Agnes Kavindu, the estranged wife of Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama, has been issued with Jubilee Party ticket to contest the Machakos Women Representative seat in the August 8 polls.
Kavindu was among Jubilee Party candidates who were handed with Jubilee nomination certificates in Machakos on Monday.
The move comes shortly after the fallout between Senator Johnstone Muthama and NASA presidential running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, and the announcement by Muthama that he has ditched the Wiper Party and will not defend his seat in the August general elections.
Kavindu will battle it out with Jane Cosmas Ndeti (CCU), Francisca Mutinda (Maendeleo Chap Chap), Joyce Kamene (Wiper), Rita Ndunge (Independent) and incumbent Susan Musyoka (Independent).
She said that she was ready to represent and serve the people of Machakos adding that she was sure she will emerge the winner of the seat. “I want to thank the Jubilee team for giving me this opportunity. I promise to deliver in Jesus name. I am grateful to Jubilee Party for choosing women and standing with them and I know the women of Machakos will stand with me,” she said upon being handed her nomination certificate by party's regional coordinator, Susan Maina.
Kavindu however declined to have an interview with journalists who were eager to ask her why she went contrary to her husband’s political affiliation and joined Jubilee instead.
"I will not address you right now. We will catch up at a later date," Kavindu told reporters.

Sorry missed the estranged part. My mistake
Strange! Are they divorced or what? Thought Muthama is a bull that rules in Ukambani for NASA. His own wife in Jubilee?
