Wiper Party leader and National Super Alliance Presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has issued an ultimatum to his National Super Alliance (NASA) co-leader Raila Odinga that could possibly break NASA unity ahead of the August General Election.
The former Vice President has asked Orange Democratic leader Raila Odinga, to choose between him and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama. Kalonzo and Muthama have in the recent past had bitter exchanges, leading to the fallout of the former allies.
Three weeks ago, senator Muthama threatened to ditch Kalonzo's Wiper party after he accused Kalonzo of dictatorship and meddling in the recently concluded party primaries in order to rig in his favorite candidates. Muthama further announced that he would not be defending his Machakos senate seat, after the Wiper Party leader backed former Katina MP Wavinya Ndeti for the party's gubernatorial primaries in Machakos to unseat incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua who fell out with Kalonzo.
Speaking during a church service in Mlolongo, Kalonzo said that he will be confronting Raila over who he is willing to work with between him and Muthama.
''There will come a time when I will ask Raila to choose whether to work with Muthama or Kalonzo,” Kalonzo is quoted as saying by the Daily Nation.
Sources reveal that the Wiper party leader is facing an uphill task in maintaining control of Ukambani, after a massive rebellion led by his former allies Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, several Ukambani MPs and recently Senator Johnstone Muthama and Kitui senator David Musila who was also the party chairman.
Kalonzo also met more rebellion after mourners at the burial of Kitui Senator David Musila's mother openly booed him.
