4-Story Building Collapses in Nakuru, Several Feared Trapped

Several people are feared to be trapped inside a four story building that collapsed within Nakuru's Central Business District on Sunday evening.

The building, named Mukoh and located along Mburu Gichua road went down at around 5.30pm and destroyed two vehicles parked beside it.

The family that owns the structure had earlier given a notice to tenants to move out, John Macharia Kibore, a family member said.

Five people including two women have been rescued rushed to hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries

Kenya Red Cross in a statement said that an unclear number of people are trapped inside a basement store operated by Kanini Haraka Wholesalers.

Rescue mission by National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU) and Kenya Defence Forces Disaster Response Unit (KDF-DRU) is currently ongoing.
