NASA MPs Set to Receive Honors from President Uhuru

National Super Alliance (NASA) MPs are among individuals nominated by Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee to receive honors from the President on Jamhuri Day.

The committee has invited members of the public to present their views on the persons it has selected to receive national honours from President Uhuru as the country celebrates independence day on December 12th.

The committee has named Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka for the award of the Elder of Golden Heart (EGH). Other MPs the list to receive the same award include Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi.

Those proposed for Chief of Burning Spear (CBS) include Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Bura's Ali Wario, Kisumu Town West MP Olago Oluoch, Deputy Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Jimmy Angwenyi and Nominated Senator Agnes Zani. Others are former Kwale Senator Juma Boy Juma and David Mbija Omura, a retired Senate sergeant at arms.

The committee is headed by the speakers of the National Assembly and Senate. The selection of the individuals is based on track record and their contributions to the nation. It was established to help the Presidency in identifying nominees within the Parliament for conferment of National Honours.

It is unclear whether the opposition MPs will accept the awards, given that Nasa has vowed not to recognise Uhuru as President.
