Mt. Kenya Region Won't Be Forced to Vote for Ruto in 2022, Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo Says
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has rekindled his rivalry with Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking in Thika, Kabogo said that voters from the expansive Mount Kenya region will not be forced to vote for Deputy President Ruto in the 2022 general elections.
Kabogo, who suffered defeat in the hands of Ferdinand Waititu in the race to defend his seat in the August 8th election said that the region will vote for Presidential candidate of their choice and not the one being forced down their throats.
"We are not political wheelbarrows to be pushed right, left and center by anyone," said Kabogo as quoted by the Standard.
He added: "We are all here to see, keep your eyes open. The game has just started."
After Jubilee party primaries in March last year, Kabog linked Deputy President Ruto to his humiliating defeat to Waititu, saying that outcome of the nomination was predetermined.
He said Ruto was determined to have him lose the seat in a plot to eliminate him as a possible threat to his ambition of succeeding President Kenyatta.
There has been speculation that Kabogo will team up with Baringo senator Gideon Moi to prevent Ruto from ascending to state house in 2022.
However, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria last week assured that Mt Kenya region will rally behind Ruto in 2022.
