Former Internal Security Minister Julius Sunkuli Demands Answers after Son's Mysterious Death

Former Internal Security Minister Julius Sunkuli has called for thorough investigations into the mysterious death of his 29-year-old son, Augustine Salaton.

Police found the lifeless body of Salaton in a lorry parking lot in Kilgoris, Narok County and ferried it to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Trans Mara West police boss David Wambua said the officers were forced to take his body to Kisii as the mortuary in Kilgoris lacked freezers.

“There were skid marks of a lorry at the scene. This indicates that the victim may have been knocked by the vehicle,” said Wambua.

The former minister's family said the deceased left home for Nairobi on the May 7th but did not return home the following days as expected.

“Every morning, he used to visit his grandmother who lives nearby. But the grandmother got concerned when he failed to show up on May 8th,” Sunkuli told Daily Nation.

Sunkuli's wife Lucy then reported his disappearance at Kilgoris police station. When his body was found at the Kisii mortuary, the family says there was evidence of struggle before his death. His body appeared to have been burnt with acid besides the injuries, the family said.

The family wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate and establish the real cause of their son's death. They suspect this could have been murder.

“Besides the injuries, my son’s body appeared to have been burnt with acid. He seems to have struggled a lot in his death, which is evident in the injuries on his head and fingers,” said Sunkuli.

“Our questions are more than answers."

Rambi Rambi Sunkuri for the killing of your son.I hope the killers will be dealt with by WANAINCHI as the police is worse than you left it.Secondly-Why do you expect the same force which was compromised or ordered to let you go scot free for defiling a child/cousin some twenty years ago to investigate your case? Why are you so special?

Poleni sana. This is a lesson for people to do a perfect work or next to perfect when they are in position because when you leave that job you will benefit from what you did. He did nothing to reform the police force in Kenya.
