Nairobi's Faceless Crime Buster 'Hessy wa Dandora' Finally Admits He's Not a Police Officer

Nairobi's faceless crime buster 'Hessy wa Dandora' has finally admitted that he is not a police officer.
This comes days after the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet described him as an “excitable chap” who is not a cop.
“I have heard of such a guy on social media. He is an excitable chap, who seems to have a lot of interest on security issues. He is not one of us,” said Boinett in an interview with Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange.
“Quite often criminals get killed and sometimes officers get killed, that is not funny at all but that is part of the occupation hazard we assume when we sign up for duty."
In a post on Facebook, Hessy now says he's a civilian with interest in matters touching on security.
"Don't ask me if am a police officer or not because the issue was clarified the other day by the Inspector General of police himself., I'm a civilian with great interest in matters of security, kindly get satisfied with that or if I may ask, what did you expect the IG to say?" he poses.
Hessy uses his social media account to warn criminals to surrender to police or be eliminated. He often posts images of alleged gangsters who he has gunned down after refusing to heed to his warning.
This has earned him praise and criticism in equal measure, with human rights group terming his operations as extra judicial execution.
The latest revelations are likely to raise questions on how exactly he is able to access crucial security information on wanted criminals and why he is allowed to gun them down when he is not a cop.
