Jane Marriott Named Britain's New High Commissioner to Kenya

The United Kingdom has appointed Ms. Jane Marriott as its High Commissioner to Kenya.

Until her appointment to the position on Thursday, Ms. Marriott was serving as the director of the UK government’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit.

She takes over from Nic Hailey, who leaves after serving in the position in the last four years.

“Ms. Marriott is the first woman to be appointed to the role. She brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked across many UK government departments including the foreign and commonwealth office, the cabinet office, the home office and the ministry of defense,” Ms. Alice Simpson, the British Commission’s head of communications, Kenya and Somalia said in a statement to newsrooms.

Ms. Marriott previously held British diplomatic positions in Yemen, Iran, the United States, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

She also served as chief speechwriter to the secretary of state for defense.

Marriott will officially assume office in September, 2019.

Wow lady! You've held all the 'hardcore' countries. I hope your terrorism experience will benefit Kenya much....this time pray 'they'll' not be just takers BUT givers.

Ms. Jane Marriott it is my prayer then you hit the ground running like United States Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter. Seek a briefing from him on the state of the country. He knows the pain the Kenyans have to bear everyday because of the the thievery by the leaders. He has been telling ordinary Kenyans to wake up from their slumber and fight. Can you join him? Your predecessor was an unmitigated disaster.
