Hillary Barchok to Be Sworn-in as New Bomet County Governor After Joyce Laboso's Death

Hillary Barchok Kipngeno is this week set to be sworn-in as new Bomet County Governor following the death of Dr. Joyce Laboso.

Barchok, who has been serving as Bomet Deputy Governor since August 2017, will take oath in a ceremony to be held at Bomet Green Stadium on Thursday.

This was announced in a notice undersigned by Evalyne Rono, who is the Chairperson of the Assumption of the Office of the Governor Committee in Bomet County.

Barchok will become Bomet County’s third Governor after Isaac Ruto and Laboso, who passed away while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital on July 29th.

Laboso, who died after a long battle with cancer, was laid to rest at her matrimonial home in Fort Ternan, Kisumu County on Saturday.

Barchok has been in charge of the county since May 29th, when Laboso took a one-month leave to seek medical treatment abroad.
