Kenya Reports Highest Daily Number of Covid-19 Infections

Kenya on Wednesday reported a record number of daily coronavirus cases after 1,494 people tested positive.
This is the highest number of Covid-19 infections recorded in a single day since the country registered its first case in March.
The new cases which were detected from 8,839 samples raised the country’s caseload to 58,587, according to the Health Ministry.
Out of the 1,494 new infections, 1,453 are Kenyans whereas 41 are foreigners with 870 being males while 624 are females.
Nairobi recorded the highest number of new cases with 414 followed by Nakuru (188), Mombasa (173), Kiambu (150), Uasin Gishu (107), Turkana (52), Kilifi (50), Garissa (35), Taita Taveta (35) and Kajiado with 31 wrapping up the ten most-affected counties.
At the same time, 12 more patients succumbed to the infection, pushing the country’s death toll to 1,051 while the tally of recoveries rose by 586 to 38,381.
Addressing the nation on Wednesday, President Kenyatta termed October as the “worst-hit month” by Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result, he announced a raft of new measures aimed at combating what has been described as the second wave of the pandemic.
