Interior PS Karanja Kibicho Opens Up On His Own Battle with Covid-19, Calls for Lockdown During Christmas

Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho has for the first time opened up about his battle with Covid-19.

Addressing mourners at a burial in Kirinyaga County on Saturday, Kibicho said he has been recovering after contracting the virus a few weeks ago.

He indicated that he was admitted to the hospital where he bravely fought the disease and was later discharged to recover fully at home.

Kibicho further urged those who test positive for the bug not to worry since most Covid-19 patients recover.

“Those who are suffering from the disease should not worry because they will get well. Out of 100 people who contract it in Kenya, only two people die,” Kibicho stated.

He called on Kenyans not to stigmatize Covid-19 patients and instead show them love, which helps them recuperate quickly.

“Patients should be showed love and not rejection. When they are abandoned, they become depressed and may take longer to recover,” he said.

While urging Kenyans to continue adhering to the Ministry of Health protocols, Kibicho said he would advise the locking down of Nairobi metropolis during the festive season to curb the spread of the virus.

“If I had the power, I would lock Nairobi during the festive season to curb the spread of the disease to rural areas,” Kibicho remarked.

Kenya needs to do whatever is necessary to control the covid19 spread in the big cities! If a lock down is what it will take; so be it!
