This comes after 27 Senators on Thursday night voted in support of Sonko’s ouster, 16 voted against, while two abstained.

Sonko was impeached on four charges including gross violation of the Constitution and other laws, abuse of office, commission of crimes under the national laws, and lacking the mental capability to run the county government.

“The effect of the vote is that pursuant to Article 181 of the Constitution Section 33 of the County Government Act and Standing Order No. 75 of the Senate Standing Orders, Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko of Nairobi City County stands impeached,” Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka announced.

Sonko’s impeachment case was heard by the Senate plenary on Wednesday and Thursday where the governor denied all the charges leveled against him.

Sonko was impeached by members of the Nairobi County Assembly (MCAs) on December 3rd. 88 out of 122 MCAs voted in favor of the impeachment motion tabled by Michael Ogada while two voted against it.

Astera vista baby! It is senate thieves impeaching the thief with bigger pockets! Hope this ends Sonko’s political career.

However, keep in mind that Sonko did not steal alone; he even had a very close support from DP Ruto! The apple does not fall too far from the tree!

There are still unanswered questions which the so-called legal experts should address. Why give political opponents and corrupt members of parliament/senate the mandate to punish other thugs? How can shs 100000 wheelbarrow governor,Lusaka preside over a theft case?Sonko will now bribe a judge instead of 47 senators to get back to city hall.Kenyans will pay billions to Sonko and Waititu if they are aquitted by courts.Hungry billionaires passed a useless constitution they never read.I hope they will reject BBI the same way Muzambweni voters rejected muuaji Raila's candidate.

Sonko should not only be impeached, but he should refund all the money he and his family have stolen from Nairobi county!

We can’t let governors who have stolen billions go scotch free! Unfortunately this will not happen because dci muilu is another thief and she will cover up for Sonko!

I listened to the foul language Ndugu Sonko used in our parliament and seriously wondered how a man of his caliber could be cleared to run for any public elective office!

Ndugu WAFULA CHEBUKATI: You have a moral obligation to examine "challenging political candidates" before you allow them to run for office.
