Kenyan Youth Want Jobs, Not Wheelbarrows, Uhuru Tells Ruto

President Kenyatta has told off Deputy President William Ruto for dishing out handouts and wheelbarrows to the youth.

Speaking on Sunday at Sagana State Lodge, where he hosted youth leaders from the Mt. Kenya region, Kenyatta said young people need jobs and not handouts and wheelbarrows.

“Then you say we know the problem of Kenyan youth, that you want to help them by giving them wheelbarrows, who told you that the youth need wheelbarrows? What they need are jobs; they want to be independent,” Uhuru said.

He added: “If you are truly intentional about helping the youth, how about you ensure that funds from the government actually get to the ground?”

Kenyatta also faulted those rejecting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) on the grounds that it is being pushed by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“Those who say BBI is for Raila, do you think Raila needs a HELB loan? He is approaching 70 something, is Raila in charge of the Ruiru ward? If Ruiru ward gets more money, does Raila benefit from that? Is this not propaganda?” he posed.

Uhuru is currently on a four-day tour of the Mt. Kenya region to popularize the BBI and launch development projects.

Uhuru is being disingenuous. He is the president, and Ruto is his,or supposedly his right hand man.Uhuruto regime is responsible for progress,or there lack of.
Mind you,its not only the youth that need jobs. Many people have families depending on them .Let jobs be there for who ever wants, and is able to work. Its all about leadership. They should lead by examples.

@ mwananchi, you are right that youths need to dream big,and Iam sure agood number do.But without adults paving their ways, and laying good foundation for the better future, the dreams will remain just DREAMS.

Uhuru Kenyatta is so pathetic. I don’t know what people see in him.

We all know he is trying to go for a third term. He is so fake.

Am personally sick and tired of him.

This is what happens when you start worshiping mashetani- does uhuru mean that there is money for the youth and somebody is stopping him from giving it to ruiru youths? How can a president ask youths questions as if he is from mars? What stops you from giving money out to any county/town/city/constituency via government programs? You do not need BBI to do that! Are you running for president or what the hell is the purpose of your campaign? All those people who supply milk to brookside have a "wheelbarrow" please buy them limos! I had a wheelbarrow (all boys in my village) had/made one to help our parents fetch water/carry cow/chicken feed- they still do but that did not make us primitive- it made us good boys/girls blessed to continue and be somebody. What is your slogan/agenda other than BBI? Why do you need BBI to give/forgive student HELB loans? I cannot believe we entrusted our land to such a myopic/opportunistic fellow. Why not give youths free internet service in all small towns so they can do e-commerce? You need BBI for that? Your lies have come to an end and majority can see through the incoherent/stupid arguments you and raila are using. You have a planning dept. that knows how many Kenyans reside in each sub-county/location- what is your planning based on? You can by executive order give money/resources based on population of children in a school- that data is there- but you want to lie to Kenyans that only BBI can identify Kenyans. If there is money to educate the youth- why do you need loan forgiveness in BBI? Give the youth FREE EDUCATION. Will BBI increase revenue? What a joke!

What is wrong with our leadership?
Jobs will not come to Kenyan's because you gave them wheelbarrows and jobs will not be there because you bring money to the county government.
Jobs are as a result of government policies. These policies decide who will provide for the needs of Kenyan's. If your policies allow foreigners to provide for us, we remain idle. If you allow Kenyan's to provide for themselves, the jobs are there.
None of these leaders have jobs somewhere in a basket that they are about to give to our youth.
Kenyan's should elect leaders who have both wisdom and leadership skills.

The wananchi, who were gifted the wheelbarrows, should be the complainants. Mr. President, gift them that better tool and help them do what they do more efficiently. If you don't want them given, and you are not giving, then I am lost - what do you really want?

When one was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, one does not know what a wheelbarrow can do to one. The Hustler nation ‘s wheelbarrow slogan is a tending narrative coming with the aim of uplifting the lives of the poor. When hustler nation talks of wheelbarrow economics, they are not talking wheelbarrow verbatim. Perhaps that’s how President Uhuru understands it. Or was he taunting ( opponent) or playing cheap sarcasm. Or perhaps he exuding his intense frustrations coming out of his BBI rejection.

Most people depend on wheelbarrows,Mboga, makanga etc jobs since Uhuru’s economy of minus shs 2b. daily cannot support any other person other than Uhuru & Co. elite thugs.Uhuru is too late to complain. But the worst are hungry billionaires who seems to have been convinced to add more misery to themselves. The question is-How will expanding the govt stop Raila from killing Kenyans if he lost the elections?Only a bloody revolution will help Kenya.Bloody because all the elite thugs(govt&opposition) and their families must be eliminated.

The President is talking like a third party participant. He is echoing a message that seems not to emanate from his office when he says the youth wants work not wheelbarrows. Mr. president if you are opposed to wheelbarrows please give these youth jobs. You are the President of the Republic of Kenya and not some person who is sent by others to say what they think.
