Two People Killed in Marsabit Aircraft Crash

Two people were killed after an aircraft they were flying in crashed in Marsabit County on Saturday morning.

The light plane registration number 5Y-JKN crashed at Mlima Kofia Mbaya in Marsabit, according to Armistice Security Consult International (ASCI).

The accident was confirmed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director-General Captain Gilbert Kibe.

“Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) hereby confirms that an aircraft accident occurred this morning in the Marsabit Area,” Kibe said through a statement.

The ill-fated aircraft reportedly left Nairobi’s Wilson Airport at 8:20 am and went down at about 10:10 am.

The only two occupants, including a pilot and his co-pilot identified as Brian Migwi and Brian Mureithi respectively died on the spot.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) in collaboration with police has since launched an investigation to establish the cause of the accident.

The crash occurred a few meters, from where a Kenya military cargo plane crashed in 2006, killing 14 people among them five Members of Parliament.
