Alarm as 483 Kenyans Commit Suicide in Three Months

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has raised concerns over the high number of suicide cases in the country.

Police data reveals that at least 483 Kenyans took their own life between March and June this year, with Kiambu County recording the highest number.

Speaking on Monday, DCI director George Kinoti urged the government to commission research to establish the cause of the worrying trend.

“We have never recorded such a high number of suicides before and this is not only alarming but calls for urgent remedial measures,” said Kinoti.

DCI records show that 409 cases of life-threatening assaults, mostly among couples, were reported in the three months.

The youngest person reported to have committed suicide during the period was nine years while the oldest was 76 years old.

The figures represent a sharp increase compared to a total of 196 suicide cases reported in the whole country in 2019.

The report compiled by the Department of Operations at DCI between March and June names Central Kenya as the leading region in the number of suicides. 181 suicide cases were reported in the region during the period, with Kiambu County accounting for 109 of the cases.

Rift Valley comes second with 68 suicide cases followed by Nyanza (67), Nairobi (63), Eastern (57), Western (29), Coast (14), and North Eastern (3).

In the counties, Kiambu led with 109 suicide cases followed by Murang’a (37), Kisii (25), Kakamega (24), Nyeri (21), Kisumu (21), Embu (20) Uasin Gishu (18) while Nakuru, Makueni, and Bomet recorded 17 cases each.

No Political Solution can be found. Bad and Corrupt Politicians are the problem. Income inequality is rife. Why should an M.P earn over a million Schillings a month, yet the bottom survives on under 20k a month.
We need trully to seek God. As dwelling in his Bosom and upholding his edicicits is the best course.

You said it right! The politicians are the cause of high suicide rates in Kenya! People wonder how they got caught up with murderers, thieves, womanizers, conmen/conwomen etc. do you not feel like you want to puke when the name of your elected official is mentioned??

DCI Kinoti no research is needed. Death is s normal part of life, unless life it is taken unnecessarily. We used to give our shell bodies to the hyenas. The only thing we can do research on is to find out who replaced the hyenas ( who benefits from death) and drive them to bankruptcy.
It's not a time of emotions but a time of truth and reality.
We are currently in the book of revelation: Read Revelation 6:2
" And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat upon him was Death and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with the sword, and with hunger and with death and with the beasts of the earth".
Until prophecy is fully fulfilled, we will not have peace. Peace is on the horizon, we just have to hold on a little longer. " The darkest hour of the night is just before dawn"
" Ee mungu nguvu yetu".

MMmmm Director of Criminal investigation wants a research done as to why.Well does he suspect criminal activities are involved. I would think this as Matiang'i's department.Anyway it appears to be a genuine concern.Unfortunately, research takes time, and by the its conclusion,it this trend continues we shall have lost alot of Kenyans. I chance to say Covid 19, romantic failures, unemployment, hopelessness, and mental health combined help to fuel this suicides. Its nothing from the outer space.
Basically what I have said is that this was long coming.Yes,by not solving our social problems, collectively, this is the result.

Kinoti, you don't need to waste tax payers money to research the obvious! Despair, stress, financial problems, illness/pain, frustrations, poverty-joblessness and hopelessness and lack of vision in the nation is the reason people are checking out! People are saying, Am tired of this shit! Covid 19 funds, eaten by Murathe and co. KSh 2billion daily gone to corruption. (Ref: Uhuru Kenyatta) Kinoti, the enemy you're looking for is you. You should have arrested, charged and brought to court all the corrupt goons that are stealing from the poor; but you cannot because you have been bought and sold - you're useless to those committing suicide, you couldn't help them take one more breath.

In Switzerland it was recorded 3318 suicides. In usa heaven it records 47511 n 1.57m suicidal attempts. In the western world where they seems to have everything suicidal rate is very high compared to the so called 3rd world countries??So the morons bashing that it has to do with unemployment is hogwash thou it can lightly contribute to suicides? In australia 2020 my cousin told me 4 kenyans commit suicides alone yet they have good jobs n everything

I was wondering when someone would blame the diaspora. I'm a little surprised it's not the usual suspect. He seems to have found an even more incoherent acolyte. Covid and the attendant joblessness and hopelessness may be the reason for the spike and living in the west doesn't inoculate you from despair and depression and it may actually make it worse.
