Raila Holds Talks with Jane Marriott, British High Commissioner to Kenya

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday held talks with British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott at her official residence in Nairobi.

Odinga said they discussed the situation in the country and potential areas of collaboration between Kenya and the United Kingdom.

He further indicated they “agreed to consult on a regular basis to discuss matters of national and mutual interest.”

On her part, Marriott expressed pleasure at meeting Odinga whom she described as a historic leader who has played a vital role in deepening Kenya’s democracy.

The UK diplomat also said they discussed the importance of effective opposition in Kenya and the UK development programs in the country.

This was the first meeting between the two after the August 9th, 2022 general election.

Odinga was accompanied to the meeting by former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed.
