US Senator Chris Coons in Kenya for Talks with Political Leadership

United States Senator for Delaware Chris Coons is leading a delegation to Kenya for a series of meetings with national and political leadership.

On Wednesday, the Democratic Senator held talks with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his office where they discussed Kenya-USA ties.

“This morning, I hosted a delegation from the USA, led by Senator for Delaware, Christopher Andrew Coons for consultations towards strengthening ties between the two nations, especially in trade, security, and democracy, among other key issues of mutual interest,” Gachagua said.

Coons, a close ally of President Joe Biden, said Kenya is a strong ally of the United States, and the success of its democracy is important to “promoting peace and security and combatting terrorism in Kenya, Somalia, and throughout the region.”

This is the second time Coons is leading a US delegation to Kenya in under a year.

In August 2022, he led a bipartisan congressional delegation where they met with national leaders, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, President Ruto, and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga.

The delegation also visited Carolina for Kibera, a non-profit that provides critical health care services and disease surveillance in informal settlements in partnership with the CDC, and led a discussion with two dozen conservation leaders from across Kenya.

They also participated in a briefing on counter-terrorism operations in Kenya and Somalia.

Senator Coons is Chairperson of the Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations and a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where he sits on the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy.

Phone call would have sufficed.Unless the main reason is a Safari in the wild.Take afew videos of bobono monkeys mating, and lions having luch. Then head back home.In his mind saying,"these savages havent changed much since we upgraded their weapons from spears, and arrows...
What I am saying is that his visit will amount to nothing, unless he carried a big bag of goodies.Talking of goodies, don't we have acrisis of dollar shortage?

Senator Chris - please tell Gachagua to start acting like a grown man and to stop inciting Kenyans against one another. Ordering Looting and burning of property belonging to other Kenyans must completely stop. Gachagua is a big tribalist in Kenya and he must be stopped!

Some people should manage their expectations when it come to Kenya & especially when it comes to characters like William Ruto & Gachagua.

The hate & jealous you see is very real.
