US Gifts DCI Four Cars to Help Hunt Down Drug Traffickers

The fight against drug trafficking in Kenya on Wednesday received a boost as the United States government handed over four customized vehicles to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). 

At a ceremony attended by Homeland Security officials and the Deputy Director of the DCI Ireri Kamwendi, Joseph Kellams from the US embassy's Drug Enforcement Administration presented vehicles to aid in the fight against drug trafficking. Mr Kellams expressed optimism that the new cars would help improve the DCI's mobility in combating drug trafficking which has been identified as a threat to national security. 

The American official also lauded the ongoing collaboration between the United States and DCI in fighting transnational organized crimes. The presence of Homeland Security officials emphasizes the significance the US government places on the collaboration between both nations. The Deputy Director of the DCI acknowledged that the government has taken significant measures to address security threats in the country. 

He is optimistic that law enforcement would receive assistance in intensifying their efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nairobi. The Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the most powerful vehicles available, boasting a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that allows drivers to quickly accelerate in high-pressure situations, such as car chases. The US recently granted funds to Kenya for their efforts to crack down on drug merchants in the capital. Many criminals including Nancy Indoveria Kigunzu, famously known as 'Mathe wa Ngara' have been apprehended in line with the initiative.
