Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro have emerged as the most impactful Members of Parliament, a Politrack survey shows.
Wanyonyi and Nyoro have both served their constituencies for multiple terms and have received a commendable score of 80.2% each, putting them at the summit of the standings. Projects attributed to Wanyonyi (ODM) and Nyoro's (UDA) were found to be the main reasons for their high ranking. Voters laud Wanyonyi for provisioning school buses to Kihumbuini and New Kihumbuini primary schools in Kangemi and for his impartial bursary distribution to students within the Westlands Constituency.
In addition, they recognize his efforts in enhancing road infrastructure, including the tarmacking and repair of Muiri Road in Mountain View, Crescent Road in Parklands, Githongoro Road, and Wambugu Road. Wanyonyi is also commended for his assistance to Boda Boda Saccos through the Boda Boda Economic Empowerment Programme, as well as his commitment to upgrading educational institutions in the constituency.
Nyoro, on the contrary, has received accolades for his "Kiharu Masomo Bora Programme." This initiative has resulted in a significant reduction in fees, with each term costing only Sh1,000 for all Kiharu Day Secondary Schools. Additionally, learners have been provided with food and revision books. Nyoro's efforts also include the construction and rehabilitation of various infrastructure projects, such as roads and bridges. Notable examples include the Maragua River - Kiguru - Ndutumi - Githioro Road in Mugoiri Ward, the Maragua Bridge, and the Kiguru - Kiratina/Kamaguta - Ndutumi - Githioro Road in Mugoi-ri Ward.
According to the research, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino received a tie in their performance ratings with a score of 79.6 per cent. Barasa has been instrumental in the construction and rehabilitation of various roads, including the Bahai-Kambini Road, Nasusi-Mwangale-Marofu Road, and Kamukuywa-Nakalira Road. Additionally, he has played a significant role in the development of schools, such as the construction of modern one-storey facilities at Matili Fym Primary School, Makhonge FYM Primary School, and Sikhendu Primary School.
Also, MP Barasa's efforts to eradicate grass-thatched houses and establish the Kimilili ICT Centre and library have been highly praised. These accomplishments reflect his commitment to the betterment of his constituency. Babu has received praise for his efforts in building and revamping various roads, such as the Tassia Central SDA road leading to Junction, River Bank, the route connecting Kwa Ndege to Kwa Kasim Tassia, the path from Garage to Green corner at Juakali, the stretch between Taj House and Mwalimu court, the road linking Kwa Ndege to Kite School at Tassia, and the construction of the road from Chokaa stage to Maua Primary school in Mihang’o.
