Double Homicide as Meru Man Kills Mother, Grandmother

Deep sorrow has engulfed Ngeene village in Imenti Central, Meru County, following a horrific double homicide.
A 27-year-old man, Jamleck Muriithi, on Sunday fulfilled a chilling promise made over the past five years, taking the lives of his mother and grandmother in a violent incident. According to the family, Muriithi had repeatedly threatened to "kill someone one day," leaving them deeply troubled. These concerns tragically materialized on Sunday, plunging the community into shock and mourning. Reuben Kabujo, the father, bravely recounts the harrowing events leading up to the murders.
Mr Kabujo describes a peaceful morning enjoying tea when Muriithi approached him, his words laced with anger and accusations. The son lamented allegations of taking bhang which Mr Kabujo vehemently denied, yet Muriithi's rage intensified. A desperate attempt to pacify his son failed, culminating in a physical attack that Mr. Kabujo narrowly dodged. Though momentarily subdued, Muriithi's rage persisted issuing threats and obscenities.
Believing his son had retreated to the farm, Mr. Kabujo's world shattered upon hearing three bangs. The horrifying truth soon unfolded as he discovered his grandmother, Tiritha Karimi, aged 90, brutally murdered with an axe. Driven by fear, he sought help from authorities, unaware that his wife, Zipporah Mutura, aged 50, had also fallen victim to his son's murderous rampage.
Villagers revealed that Muriithi, after killing his grandmother, pursued his mother inside the house, mercilessly inflicting fatal blows to her head. He returned home, changed his clothes, and attempted to flee. Fortunately, a mob intervened, and officers from Gaitu police station apprehended him before further harm could be inflicted.. Muriithi's sister, Juster Kathuraniri, describes his brother's intimidation and threats directed not only towards family members but even her children during visits. The motive behind these heinous acts remains unclear, leaving a community grappling with loss and seeking answers.
