Dissenting Wiper MPs Face Disciplinary Action Over Finance Bill Vote

Wiper Party has declared its plan to initiate disciplinary measures against members who backed the contentious Finance Bill 2024, contrary to the party's clear instruction to oppose it.
The party emphasizes that there would be no exceptions once disciplinary proceedings commence. Among those facing potential consequences is Dadaab MP Farah Maalim, who recently cast his vote in favour of the contentious bill, directly contravening the party's instructions. The Wiper Party maintains that these members have betrayed the trust of Kenyan citizens and promises to take firm measures in response to their actions.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka separately commended Kenyan youth for their protests against the bill, which he characterized as unreasonable, unsound, and beyond correction. Musyoka praises the demonstrators for exercising their fundamental rights to express dissent and voice concerns about what he terms a deceitful and callous government. He suggests that the current administration's primary goal appears to be the misappropriation of citizens' hard-earned money.
"You have publicly expressed your displeasure with this dishonest and insensitive Kenya Kwisha regime, whose primary purpose appears to be embezzling your hard-earned money. Every hour, my admiration and appreciation for Kenya's #GenZ grow by leaps and bounds," he said.
Musyoka admires Kenya's younger generation, noting their dedication to upholding principles of accountability and justice. The Azimio leader also extended his appreciation to the 115 members of parliament who stood in opposition to the controversial legislation. Meanwhile, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has issued a call for government action against the police officer suspected of fatally shooting a protester during demonstrations on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 7 pm on Moi Avenue in Nairobi, where Rex Kanyike Masai lost his life while participating in protests against the Finance Bill, 2024.
The party has taken a strong stance on the matter, demanding accountability for what they describe as an overzealous police response. The Opposition party insists that the government take responsibility for investigating and addressing the actions of the officer involved in the shooting. The incident has galvanized opposition figures, with Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino pledging that Masai's death will not be in vain.
