I Would Have Slaughtered 5,000 Gen Z Protesters Daily If I Was President - Farah Maalim Allegedly Says

KTN journalist Ken Mijungu informed the public on Tuesday, July 9th, that Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim was prohibited from appearing on his show.

This decision was prompted by a viral video clip that captured the lawmaker allegedly urging President William Ruto to suppress Gen Z protestors. The translated clip purportedly captures Maalim expressing strong disapproval of Gen Z protestors and their opposition to the Finance Bill. He allegedly states that, were he the Kenyan President, he would have "slaughtered" 5,000 young protesters every day. His words appear to verge on incitement as he advises President William Ruto to adopt an extreme stance against ongoing demonstrations.

In response to these remarks, seasoned journalist Ken Mijungu has announced a ban on Farah Maalim's participation in his show, citing his patriotic duty as a Kenyan. Maalim, however, has vehemently defended himself against these allegations. He claims the viral clip was digitally manipulated, describing the situation as a political witch-hunt. According to Maalim, the video resulted from selective editing, with certain elements cut and pasted together to create a misleading narrative. He suggests that Somalis might be behind this manipulation, citing his involvement in Somali politics as a possible motive.

While Maalim denies some aspects of the video, he does not retract his statement regarding Gen Z. He has accused this demographic of attempting a coup against a democratically elected government. As a journalist, Mijungu has exercised his right to uphold journalistic integrity and responsibility.
