Kalonzo Hints at Political Alliance with Sifuna Following Recent Meeting

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has signalled the possibility of a major political realignment after holding a closed-door meeting with ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna in Kwale County.

Kalonzo described the meeting as “productive” in a social media post, hinting at a developing political rapport with Sifuna. The timing is notable, coming amid growing tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where Sifuna has emerged as a vocal internal critic.

Sifuna has publicly opposed ODM’s perceived softening stance towards President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration. He has threatened to resign if the party formally endorses Ruto’s re-election bid, arguing that such a move would betray ODM's founding principles.

His criticism has deepened internal divisions, with some party leaders calling for his removal, while others, especially from Western Kenya, have rallied in his defence. Meanwhile, Kalonzo Musyoka has consistently positioned himself as a key opposition figure and has ruled out any cooperation with the current government. He has vowed to ensure President Ruto serves only one term and dismissed any claims that he or his allies could be swayed.

“Anyone thinking we can be bought, intimidated, or compromised to abandon this mission is daydreaming,” he recently said.
