Kenya Rugby Sevens star Daniel Sikuta was on Monday morning involved in a road crash along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
The forward, who was part of the Kenyan side that sailed all the way to the Cup final at the Vancouver Sevens in Canada eight days ago, however, escaped unhurt.
Sikuta, who represents Kabras in the local Rugby league was headed to Nairobi from his family home in Kakamega when the 14-seater matatu he was travelling in was involved in an accident at around 3.45am.
The cause of the accident is still unclear. Taking to Facebook, the 25-year-old posted a photo of the vehicle whose back windows appeared shattered and scraped on the right side.
"Involved in accident but we thank God still alive with one casualty # Godprotection," he said in a Facebook post which has since gone viral.
“I thank God, I’m fine,” a visibly shaken Sikuta told Citizen TV.
He has been a crucial player for Shujaa that has been in great form this season, which culminated to an appearance in a Cup final during their North American tour.Shujaa won Silver after finishing second behind Fiji.
