Military Boss Samson Mwathethe Warns NASA Over Secession Talks

Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe has warned political leaders to stop fueling secession talks.

Speaking during the burial of Murang'a Deputy OCPD Madaraka Mung’aro at Dabaso on Saturday, the military boss warned politicians that the current political situation was not suitable to start such calls.

Gen. Mwathethe said that such talks could divide the country and possibly plunge the country into war.

“The country, everyone know is going through political challenges and our politicians should talk of unity and how they can bring the people together, than engaging in talks that will divide the nation. They should read the mood of the nation and understand that their freedom of expression should not be misused. Any bad and ill talk is a recipe for chaos and destruction,” said Gen Mwathethe.

Some ODM politicians from Kilifi led by Governor Amason Kingi on Friday threatened to push for secession of coast region should Uhuru Kenyatta be declared President in next week's repeat election.

Gen Mwathethe cited a number of countries he has been on a peace mission to, saying that he would never want to see Kenya in such state. “In Iraq for example, I saw a mass grave that stretched for more than eight kilometers. Some politicians are talking but have not seen the impact of war and its threats on the lives of the people,” he said.

Coast police boss Larry Kienga also echoed Mwathethe sentiments saying that the separation talks are dangerous.

“Bad politics leads to insecurity and I want to tell our politicians that we have been peaceful in this region and the trend should continue. I want tell our politicians to weigh their words because once they go out of context, we shall act as we need this country to remain peaceful,” said Mr Kieng.

“What I saw in Bosnia at the height of war should not happen here. Our politicians pretend to be not aware but the peace we enjoy must remain,” he said.

Mwathethe,

The best unity we can get from our current NASA and Jubilee leaders is for them to step down. Both carry heavy negative historical baggage started by their fathers.

We cannot allow two people (Uhuru and Raila) to take a nation of over 40 million citizens for granted as their private and personal political toys!

Best way forward proposed so far, I second. Get rid of these two, and then let's elect a Dorobo or Ogiek to State House. This ukabila thing is way too much!

But Imara. I don't think MILITARY should be involved in What's Going on in Kenya Right Now. NO body is Trying to Overthrow the Government. What Everybody is Wanting is a Level Playing Ground. So Military Involvement is Going too far.

Nobody is trying to overthrow the govt? Mmmhhh if only you knew. God bless Kenya in solidarity with Uhuru Kenyatta prayer day and reflection. God bless the women and children , God protect all because in few days Kenya is going to cease as we know it or rise above. I hope all of Kenya will live to achieve their dreams. I pray for my family, I hope and pray all will be well with all of them; I hope all Kenyan families in all corners of Kenya live to tell a tale or two in the end. In the end all of us will be on the edge come Oct 26th and we will all stop what we will be doing that day to watch either country on fire or prevail. All the chest thumping will all stop , as we watch the breaking or making of a Nation. God bless Kenya and God bless all Kenyans regardless of political party, religion, class or creed. As of now no more comments. I need my sanity for my family!

FormerlyGuest2. Nobody is trying to overthrow the Kenya Government (but instead the Kenya "government" is Trying to Overthrow the Will of the Kenyan Majority). THIS IS WHY: There is PANIC As Nobody Not Even Uhuru Knows Where Kenya Is Headed, Enigma Raila To Provide Roadmap.

I agree 66.66%. The other 33.334% will be included in my agreement if Ruto joins the duo and the entire parliament is disbanded. To reach here, a disciplined and impartial army can help in a bloodless takeover (not coup), and ask the Supreme Court to preside over a fresh election in which none of the current leaders nor iebc staff participated

I am glad Defense Forces General Samson Mwathethe sees what is in NASA and Raila's minds. The mastermind is Raila but he has recruiters such as Akombe, Maraga, Orengo, Chabukali, Nyakali and host of other seniors Judiciary guys. The ultimate goal of Raila is to become president of a republic of Luo Nation out of some of what would be remnants of what is now present day Kenya. His vision is shared by likes of Akombe. Raila, A diehard Communist since the days of Soviet Union seizes the prevailing freedom and democracy that has emerged in the country to create a climate of fear by preaching non-existence things like marginalization to advance his agenda of one day creating a Luo Socialist Nation where he would be its first President. He knows he will NEVER be president of Kenya no matter what. Expect him to come in full force next week but rest assured we will quash him.

@Doreen, secession is not the answer. Even the Luos themselves they will not be united because they have small micro-nations within themselves and everybody want to rule. What will their economy depend on? Not all NASA governors are with Raila. Did you see Nanak saying they need peace in Turkana. It is very easy to talk than to act. Do not think they will sing secession and get a green light. Watalimwa wapate rangi. Look at South Sudan all they do is fight. Look at Eritrea, they got their Independence but nobody want to live there. They die in the sea trying to go to Europe.

Kenya, I agree with you. Secession is like running away from the issues/problems,instead of confronting them.As of now we have educated Kenyans,or should Isay enlightened Kenyans from all tribes. These brains can come together, and find out how to harmoniously unite.Secession would set a bad precedent, and abad message that,if my tribe feels marginalized in this union, its time we break away...not good idea.No compelling reason for it thus far.
Since independence, we have been living in relative harmony,we should find ways to strengthen the union, and not weaken it.
If Tanzania can make its over 50 tribes live as one,so can Kenya. It come down to our leaders. Yes most of them will preach the importance of unity, but employ tactics that discourage unity. We need afresh breed of leaders with a united vision for all tribes in Kenya.

This "UNITY" your talking about has failed.

Too much tribalism and hate.

Denying it will not make it disappear.

Ati Bosnia, you missed the fact that Bosnia, kosovo ETC. were Yugoslavia as one country but then came tribalism and maginalization hence the break up of Yugoslavia. Its NO MORE.

Dr.koni please think about your comments before you write anything, this is so silly what you have written. You must be akikuyu one of the people who believe that Kenya belongs to kikuyus or nyumba ya mumbi.Look at kikuyus lawyers sometimes I wonder how they obtained a law degree. Did you watch the petition hearing where one of them could not explain what you do with six ballots papers and another one who is supposed to be senior argued that servers go to sleep in Europe meaning that you can't withdraw money on any ATM machine at any time.

I always avoid to engage myself in a discussion with a layman but I will make an exception in this case. Contrary to what you think I am a Luo from Siaya. More important though is that I am Kenyan first. I am very educated and very rich thanks to my association with hard working Kikuyu brothers and sisters who taught me never to belief in handouts. I am married to a lovely Kikuyu woman whom I love and have two lovely children with. I own a yacht, a private jet, a helicopter, a home in Muthaiga next to Mwai Kibaki's , a home in US and another home one in Europe. I also own an international business. I have met both Orengo and Akombe in person in an official setting. I am successful person because I rejected tribalism along time ago. I suppose I am older than you to know the path Raila is trying to take our Kenya. I was there when his father was trying to advocate communism in Kenya and even brought Russians to build us a hospital in Kisumu. It was the wisdom of a Kikuyu leader who steered us from communism and socialist ideologies that bankrupted so many countries in the World that we are a Nation today. Okulaulanga, you are too young to know where we have come from and to know how things used to be. For now what your testosterone is telling you is Raila, shedding blood, Kikuyus, Kalenjins, successions, looting, fishing and hooliganism. Once bullets start flying and you realize your relatives don't have anywhere to hind senses will come back to you

I hear you Doc. In Bondo Rao recounted the events of the unrest that followed Jomo and Jaramogi fueds. In his words " it was pa, pa, pa, pa it was like popcorn" what a macabre description! I am curious why Rao opted to narrate that event. He was in somber mood, and he did not even want to see anti-JP banners. Additionally those young hooligans-on-hire may be younger to recollect the events of 92'. The only reality they have is from war videos, action movies, video games and university riots. To the young and not-so-young, count your blessings and build your nation-Kenya is better for you than many other places in the world.

@Okulaulanga. Stop disrespecting Dr. Koni Hanene and listen to the wish word he has to offer. Dr. Hanene is one of the most learned Kenyan in diaspora. I have seen him lecture and I know he is a genius. I know him as a person that does not entertain nonsense. He knows the direction Raila is taking Kenya is a dangerous one and need to be stopped before the country plunges into a civil war.

Mzalendo shupavu - Imara

I agree with General Mwathethe . The constitution clearly says if an election is annulled it should be held within 60 days .
what happens if there is no election is there is no Governement and that is not where my fellow Kenyans we want to fall trap
. If we want to bring changes to Kenya we need to come up with better strategies and not just blaming each other for our failures.

Instead of plunging into the politics of Kenya while in uniform, Mwathethe should resign first and get into the field officially, tukutane naye mundu-khu-mundu!! Else he would have examined why these talks have come up now, of all the times, and addressed the issues raised. Empty warnings will not stop us from thinking, or expressing our thoughts, as these are guarded by our constitution.

Seeing as we have gone there, I ask: Is Uhuru Kenyatta's son's wife not a Luo? If so, how do people think this household is feeling when everything is being strewn around as Luo this, or Kikuyu that? Hurtful. The bottom line is: These two candidates have unfinished business rooted deep in their heritage. We are just but collateral damage in their power pursuit, especially so for Ojinga, pardon...I mean, babu Odinga.
