President Kenyatta Dishes State Jobs to Raila's Allies

The spirit of the famous March 9th handshake has manifested itself in President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent state appointments.

In appointments announced on Friday by acting State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, the President awarded jobs to some of opposition leader Raila Odinga's allies.

Odinga's allies George Ochillo Ayacko and Peter Nicholas Oginga Ogego were handed ambassadorial positions pending vetting and approval by Parliament.

Ayacko unsuccessfully contested for the Migori gubernatorial seat in last year's election. He previously served as a Minister in  retired President Mwai Kibaki's administration between 2002 and 2007.

Ogego, a close ally of Raila served as an Ambassador in the Grand Coalition government, where Odinga was the Prime Minister.

Kathleen Openda, another friend to Raila was named the Chairperson of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

Ms Openda was the director in charge of communication and media at the secretariat which run Raila's 2017 presidential campaigns.

Joe Owaka Ager, who served as National Super Alliance's director of operations was appointed as the Chairman of the Placement Board for the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Isn't this what it's all about, joining the gravy train and sharing the spoils by way of state jobs? Not much there for Wanjiku except her much needed duty to finance the train through tax.
