Kenyan MP Offers Sh2,000 to Every Woman in His Constituency Who Gives Birth

Mbeere North MP Muriuki Njagagua has announced he will give Sh2,000 to every woman in his constituency who gives birth.
The MP says the move aims at increasing the population and rescue the constituency from being scrapped when the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reviews boundaries after 2019 census.
Njagagua says he will use all means available to save Mbeere North, which is among 27 constituencies at risk of being scrapped since it does not meet the required population threshold for a constituency.
The 2009 census shows the constituency had a population of 89,035, the lowest in Embu County.
A constituency must have a population of more than 133,000 people, meaning Mbeere North needs an additional 43,965 people by next year's census if it is to survive the axe. The largely semi-arid constituency currently has 51,009 registered voters.
He argues that the constituency must remain since it's inhabited by the Mbeere people, who are a minority in the county.
"I believe we are still protected and will fight for that protection as a minority. You cannot just kill minority constituencies. We will fight it tooth and nail,” he says.

It takes more than 20 dollars to raise a child.Even if the women are given sh 2000 a month, and they incur 4000 to raise that child/month,this becomes an added responsibility of find another 2000 that would not otherwise have been there. But most important is to have kids when you are ready, that is old enough mature mentally and physically, then financially secure. Not good incentive to have abig responsibility. The man is selfish and worried about his job.

What will shs 2000.00 do for the birth?, not even enough for one month meals. That is lowering the dignity of his citizens who spent long lines in voting for him. Create jobs first!. We don't want our children end up in streets, do away with cheap pombe, drugs and insecurity killing citizens before asking them to give births. The best way to win them is to give them a piece of land. Poverty is number one Kenyan enemy and this can prevent fatalities sorry to say.
