British Soldier Involved in Killing of DusitD2 Attackers Flown Out of Kenya over Fears for His Life

A British Special Air Service (SAS) officer who has earned praise over his role in the killing of gunmen involved in DusitD2 terror attack earlier this week has reportedly left the country.

Reports in the British media indicate that the highly trained officer has been flown out of the country after his photos taken while rescuing victims during the attack went viral, hence putting his life at risk.

The Daily Mail reports that authorities fear for the soldier's life as he could possibly be targeted for a retaliatory attack over his role in eliminating the terrorists.

"For his own safety, he is leaving the country as he could be tracked down. His safety is paramount. He is a decorated, veteran member of the SAS who was a member of D Squadron and extremely active in Syria taking part in a number of successful operations against ISIS. He had transferred to B squadron for this assignment," the Daily Mail says.

The soldier was at one of the shopping malls in Nairobi when the attackers stormed DusitD2 complex on Tuesday and began shooting indiscriminately at persons inside the building.

The Sun reports that the unnamed SAS officer was in Kenya to train and monitor Kenyan soldiers and went to the scene immediately he received reports about the attack.

"British Special Forces always run towards the sound of gunfire. He fired off rounds during the operation. It's a safe bet he hit his target — the SAS don't miss. There's no doubt his actions saved lives," British media, The Sun says in a report.

All we hear is FBI did this, British soldier did that, it is like Kenyan's mind is being conditioned to think we are helpless when it comes to Kenyan forces protecting their citizens. Those who are being praised are our former colonizers. We have to be careful. Where will we be if they try to colonize us again. We need to hear the performance of our Kenyan soldiers as hero's in our country not foreignors. This kind of staff creates "Superority" of foreignors in our own land which is not acceptable.
God save Kenya. God give Kenya leaders not politicians. God help Kenya!!!

Well NTV and others have reported extensivly on other Kenyans heroism, maybe Mwakilishi is just picking up some sensational news with Wazungus, otherwise I have watched and read many other stories ...so maybe Mwakilishi is not casting wider net to report to Diaspora those other Kenyan heros' stories including that mama who served soldiers tea and mkate( with out of pocket money) the following morning. I didn't see that story here.....

kenyan media platforms just suck. our own countrymen put their lives on he line and some funny blogger is busy singing the praises of Britain. this damn 3ducation system has really got to teaching us on what instead of how to think.. we wanna write our own stories, help with that or join me as a fan and wait for a more patriotic and optimistic kenyan to do that for you... disgusting

@Abubakar you said it well. The problem is exposed for example when men and light skinned women possessing strong British accents are hired to read the news. First of all that alone explains just how much media employers are riddled with inferiority complex. It is no wonder then that these media houses are very eager to cover the news where the light skins are seen in a good light instead of showering with praises the Kenyans who helped others or even the Recce squad plus many many others including doctors and nurses who worked hard in the hospitals to save lives. Others and many of them stopped what they were doing to donate blood. We need to tell more of these stories.

let b careful here, ethnic differences n misconceived perceptions will not help, we r talking abt pples lives n the great role tht the British soldier played, no body has said tht Kenyan soldiers didn't play a role, but the British soldier deserves a Salute. God bless.

I'm not sure why we are all hell bent over this. We gain lots of intel from the M16 and CIA, mpende msipende , we are not that advanced and I can guarantee there is probably more operations that were thwarted because of such Intel. Some of us need to be a bit well read to realize our forces have gained much of what they displayed n DusitD2 from foreign forces. If you want to see how much Intel these people can get and thwart a possible attack , and some yes slip through watch this movie and it maybe fiction but...............

Yes we praise ours but lets not pretend that our forces are Utopia and our capabilities. Time to get back to reality of the dependency we have from former colonial masters.

It was an act of Saviorship, we need to accept that. Yes there were Kenya "Armed fokes" But they lined like ducks. I wish truth be said

At first glance this seems like a vanity project by the ex university brigade, a sort of university debating society.I've finally had enough of following the daily mail on line. when teamwork is changed, coated to alone hitman.
The daily mail has been turned into a comic for people with the mental age of a 12 year old, with "news" stories that are nothing but lies, hopelessly out of date. Hopefully they plus you will go bust soon.If ever a rag was wrongly named its the so called daily mail. how does it feel when your effort is never rewarded instead its piled to someone else???

I support this gesture of protecting this Briton hero. It's a reflection of a true military passion unlike Kenyans defense personnel whom majority are employed based on tribal balancing, nepotism and corruption. Kenyans let's learn and change.
