Kenyans in the diaspora and wealthy local executives have purchased 86 units off-plan in an upcoming residential development in one of Nairobi's upmarket estates.
The units are under the Sh4.5 billion Purple Haze residential development in Kilimani, Nairobi.
The developer, Edifice Limited says the 13-storey high-rise property targeting affluent clients looking for green developments near Nairobi’s downtown, has opted for cash only buyers as it nears June 2019 completion.
Edifice project director Mavji Varsani says about 50 units are set aside for renting corporate executives and foreigners.
He says the developer raised equity and sourced property financing from the Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) in a deal to facilitate mortgage purchases.
The property sits on a two-and-a-half acre parcel of land and hosts 216 units of two, three and four-bedroom duplex apartments surrounded by Zen gardens-climbing plants next to water fountains.
The property is designed by Singaporean WAVE Design Consultants Architect Amit Mody.
It has 12 penthouses valued at Sh78 million and six units of four bedrooms next to another six units of three-bedroomed penthouses selling at Sh70 million.
Some of the features in the homes include Italian Kitchens complete with appliances, Spanish Tiles (Pamesa), Spanish Bathroom Vanities, fully fitted wardrobes, German sanitary ware and bathroom fittings, two parking per apartment and self-contained ensuite DSQ.
Other are solar water, borehole, full back up generators, swimming pools, gym, kids playground, six high-speed lifts, guarded gates with 24hr CCTV surveillance, library among others.

True, property is shit expensive in Kenya.
You make perfect sense! Who can afford these homes? Even by american standards, they are expensive
Oh really? Amazing!!!
My free advice, get your own lawyer, and let that lawyer negotiate how your interests will be safeguarded till the developer is ready to handover your buy. It's high risk to pay first and then wait for the developer. In a fair transaction, the developers are supposed to keep off your money, till they're ready to transfer the ownership.
Total waste of money
In Fly-by-night investments, “A fool and his money are soon parted”. I am curious just how one can possibly reclaim money if(more so when) lost in these grand schemes with the kind of scandals over there? It's like wadding through a swamp or marshy waters full of alligators.
People buy what they feel will meet their needs depending on their personal situation. It is unfair to criticize someone else's purchase based on your personal circumstances.
Every country has it own scandals and scams.
As long as you work with a trusted partner, your chances of going wrong are lessened.
Reminds me of Konza city...how did that go?
The conmen in town.
I have a simple question? What justifies the housing prices in Nairobi? The amenities are shitty.
2 years ago I found myself at the Diaspora Expo - Kenyans with dry lips trying to sell old colonial/victorian homes for similar prices to Newton Mass. I am thinking to myself...wait a Minute?
I can but a vacation home in the Oklahoma or South Carolina or a Condo in Florida.
My fellow diaspora, keep your money. Kenya will not be livable soon...I mean, how do you plan to live in this 78 million high rises sorrounded by paupers?
The economic Inequality gap and thievery in Kenya is immoral. Unfortunately, only 1% of Kenyans can afford this kind of nonsense (mostly from stolen monies, let us face it, who in Kenya is producing anything. CBA is the Kenyatta family back laundering the Milk money and money from lands that Mama Ngina is rapidly disposing off). The poor will bring you down, wether you stole or not.
