Uhuru Travels to the US for National Prayer Breakfast

President Kenyatta has traveled to the United States where he has been invited to attend the two-day 68th National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.
In a statement on Monday, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena indicated that Kenyatta was invited by the US Congress to the function to be held on February 5th and 6th.
The prayer breakfast, whose theme is “Reconciliation, Faith and Peace Building,” will bring together more than 2,000 guests including political and business leaders, the US Congress, diplomats, and religious leaders.
Dena said both Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga have been invited to the event to speak about their historic March 9th, 2018 handshake.
An invitation letter sent to Kenyatta and Odinga indicated that the two will deliver their speeches during the International Luncheon on February 5th at 12.30 pm. The International Lunch is one of the annual National Prayer Breakfast-related events that honor members of the Diplomatic Corps based in the US.
“As the keynote speakers for the lunch, we would like to ask you to share your personal journey of faith and reconciliation,” the invitation letter reads.
US President Trump and First Lady Melania will be the guests of honor for the event.
Odinga left the country for the US on Sunday evening, his spokesperson Dennis Onyango said in a statement to newsrooms.
