Kenyan Man Dumped by Wife and Children After Adopting Baboon

A Kenyan man has been abandoned by his wife and children after he brought home a young baboon and insisted on living with the animal.

Isaack Kibet from Elgeyo-Marakwet County returned home with the then newborn baboon after he found her abandoned on his farm.

Neighbors advised him to take the ape to a nearby police station but when he went there, officers asked him to take the animal under his care.

However, his wife was against the idea of living with the animal, and efforts to convince her husband to take back the baboon to the woods bore no fruits. She decided to leave, taking their four children with her.

After his family left, Isaack adopted the baboon and has been living with her. Speaking to NTV on Thursday, April 30th, he said he considers the animal as his fifth child and has named her Josephine.

"Even now when you call Josephine Baboon Kibet it responds knowing you are referring to it," Kibet told NTV.

"If I had the resources I would take her to school and buy clothes for her. The only problem is that she has a tail. I would have even bought the underpants," he added.

He plays and carries the baboon on his back, something that has made him passionate about caring for and protecting animals. He dreams of working at an animal orphanage.
