The Kenyan Embassy in Washington, DC has announced the resumption of in-person consular services effective Monday, October 19th.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington DC would like to inform the general public of the resumption of limited in-person consular services at the Embassy with effect from Monday, October 19, 2020, at the address 1616 P Street NW, Suite 340 Washington DC 20036. (Please note that the Embassy building at 2249 R Street NW, Washington DC 20008 is currently under renovation),” the embassy said in a notice.
Due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, the mission said all in-person services will strictly be offered on appointment basis “to enhance social distancing and in conformity with the order by the Washington DC authorities prohibiting a mass gathering of over fifty (50) persons in an enclosed space.”
Some of the in-person services to be offered include applications for the e-passport and Kenyan Identity Card (ID).
“All other consular applications like visa, emergency travel certificate, police clearance, and birth certificate should continue being sent by mail,” the embassy added.
Walk-in services at the embassy were suspended on March 16th, 2020 in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the US and other parts of the world.

I can't agree more!
The worst of Kenya lives behind those walls! Deja vu of all the hardships that we once went thru' just to get a simple document all come alive as soon as you walk through those doors or call that place! Its a nightmare, just a major pain in the butt and non one gives a damn about what's happening even with the piling complaints! Such a shame!
Which serves? The poop embassy only sells ID's for $50 to willing buyers.Cross the useless embassy.
What do you mean? They sell people's IDs or what?
It could be true. I applied for Kenyans ID back in January 2020 to date October 2020, NO ID, no updates no communication, no where to track status of applied ID’s here in the U.S! Email inquiries are not responded, texts not returned, voice messages not being returned, phones not being picked? A real disgraced embassy! I understand the COVID excuse, but please, keep folks updated on the status of their applications. The last time i checked, you were also working from home, weren’t you?
N400:naturalized and throw the Kenyan passport in the garbage.
This is not an announcement to rejoice about. This Embassy Open or closed makes no difference. Terrible service in ALL aspects. They mirror the corrupt and incompetent government that sent them. I can get a roach and mouse to do more for me than an embassy employee.
What?
There is no difference between when it is closed or when it is open because services offered are the same. Bure kabisa.
