Kenyan MPs Push for Installation of Sauna and Jacuzzi in Parliament

Kenyan MPs are pushing for the installation of saunas and jacuzzis in parliament to help them improve their wellbeing.

In a report, the Committee on Services and Facilities wants a state-of-the-art health and wellness facility normally available at major hotels and spas fixed in parliament.

The MPs want the new facility furnished with clinical and public health sections fully equipped with modern medical diagnostic machines.

The facility, which will be run by a new autonomous body dubbed the Parliamentary Health Services Unit (PHSU), will replace the existing health club MPs say is obsolete.

The Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu-led committee argues that the new unit is meant to motivate MPs and parliamentary employees to perform well in their duties by maintaining their physical and psychological health.

“The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) should facilitate the refurbishment and renovation of the current health club in compliance with the protocols and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health on containment of Covid-19 and that the budget that was meant for outsourcing health club services be channeled towards the setting up of the health and wellness unit,” the report reads in part.

Situated within parliament buildings, the ultra-modern health facility will be fitted with steam baths, massage room, and saunas that will have the latest model of steam generating systems in the gents and ladies' washrooms.

It will also have barber and salon areas, hair washing points in the ladies, and workstations at gents.

The gents and ladies' washrooms will have manicure, pedicure, and reflexology stations as well as changing areas with rails for purposes of hanging personal clothes and towels.

“PSC should consider putting the staff deployed to the current health club with massage, reflexology on a five-year term contract, renewable once upon satisfactory performance,” adds the report

While justifying the creation of the PHSU, the committee said there is evidence regarding the burden of disease attributable to the environment and non-communicable disease that has led to the poor health of workers, which demands the creation of wellness programs to cater for health risk assessments and screenings.

“Through the wellness program, the aim is to enhance the health of members and staff of Parliament that will ultimately increase productivity as well as provide a healthy and safe work environment that will support employees’ health and well-being,” adds the report.

What I appreciate most about our politicians is that they have shown the voter who they are repeatedly. Hawachezi chini ya maji. It is up to the voter to decide who they want to elect. It would also help to name all those needing "motivation" to do their over compensated job while Wanjiku can not access enough food and shelter let alone pay school fees.

This is exactly what we need! A play house for our healthy wealthy and filthy honorable-distinguished members of our august body. No details should be spared in making these simple minded goons and brutes happy. How about we add a brothel and a sexology and sodomxiology while we are at it! How arrogant and clueless are these imbeciles? Homeless children as young as 5years old, are scavengers digging into rotten rubbish dumps in our capital looking for something to eat, while our esteemed leaders are living in opulence and splendor on tax payers money. Everything for themselves and nothing for Wanjiku!

These stupid politicians do not even attend the parliament sessions to discuss the needs of Kenyans any more, but they want a sauna, jacuzzi, and some more shit installed at the parliament building!

What a load of carca is this shit? And the ignorant Kenyans keep voting for these idiots? Na-wao!!

Is it not clear for everyone now that these Mpigs are there for their own self interest. To get in shape all you have to have is desire, time, and dedication. You do not even need state of the art equipments.
We have state of the art gyms all over Nairobi. Some staffed with personal trainers. Is there any reason why Mpigs cannot use these facilities?
Come to think of it, I wouldn't have an issue with this state of the art facility if they are footing from their own pocket...
Quite burdening taxpayers with your personal responsibilities.Getting into shape is your own choice, and foremost benefits you whether you are an Mpig or not.

I have watched a lot of parliamentary proceedings and more than half the times these guys talk very irrelevant issues. All you hear from speaker Muturi is "order, order members" shouting over each other. They never take Wanjiku's issues seriously forgetting what actually took them there in the first place. Very few have ever tabled a bill to help the common man. I hope and pray Kenyans we seriously start weeding out "leaders" who don't have their interests in heart and start electing people who will bring change to better their lives. Not self- centered people because of how loud they shout and/or disrespect curse others for their political gains.

This is pure Madness!!! How daring are these politicians push for Sauna’s in parliament? They sound very damn by thinking something like that.

Think about poverty and development. Shame on you guys! In 1st world counties, they live a simple life. Yet, these Kenyan politicians want to live big by stealing from the poor. So disgusting!

I think they're doing so because, history has taught them it's easy peasy to ask to ask & get perks whenever they feel like.
