Two Women in Court for Refusing to Pay Sh147,000 Alcohol Bill at a Kilimani Bar
Two women were on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court for failing to pay a bar bill of over Sh140,000.
Delilah Raila and Evy Cheptoo are said to have consumed expensive alcohol and food worth Sh147,000 at a bar in Nairobi’s Kilimani area and declined to pay.
Appearing before Kibera senior resident magistrate Renee Kitangwa, the two were charged with obtaining credit by false pretenses and creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
They are accused of committing the offenses at Black Stars Lounge in Kilimani on the night of March 6th, 2022.
Police say the accused persons insulted Gregory Nzamba of Black Stars Lounge and revelers at the restaurant. They allegedly became unruly at around 2:30 am by creating a disturbance and hurling insults at Nzamba, saying they would not settle the huge bill.
Delilah and Evy pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh30,000 each. The case will be mentioned on March 24th.

Am I the only one trying to wrap my head around the absurdity of the nearly $1300 bill? I'd be hard pressed to spend that much money on food and alcohol for two without leaving on a stretcher or passing out in a drunken stupor. How did the bar not ask for a credit card for the tab?
