Kenyan Man Charged with Defrauding Bernalillo County, New Mexico of $447,000

A Kenyan man has been charged in a US court for allegedly defrauding Bernalillo County through a wire transfer scheme.

Oscar Kipkirui Ng’eno, 41, was arraigned in federal court on March 30th on an indictment charging him with 10 counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy.

Ng’eno, who was present in New York on an immigrant visa, allegedly engaged in a scheme to deceive and defraud the government of Bernalillo County, New Mexico, from October through December of 2019.

The suspect is said to have sent an email to Bernalillo County intended to appear to come from a legitimate vendor CDW Government Inc., which had provided products and services to the county for which payment was due.

The spoofed email included a completed automated clearinghouse (ACH) form used by Bernalillo County to establish or change automated payments electronically to vendor bank accounts, according to the US Department of Justice.

“The email also included an image of a voided check showing the same routing and account numbers listed on the ACH form,” the department of justice noted.

The email also provided a telephone number that was represented as a contact number for CDW, but actually belonged to Ng’eno.

The county sent payments totaling $447,372.89 (Sh51 million) to Ngeno’s account between October and December 2019. Ng’eno then allegedly distributed part of the money to his co-conspirators, including by issuing checks totaling $98,930 (Sh11 million).

If convicted, Ng’eno could face up to 20 years in prison for each count.

From 2019 till now you could have been in Kenya chilling in your mansion. That is enough money for you to retire and bribe any Kenyan officials hoping to repatriate you back to face justice.

That is the reason Ruto will not resign because he will be hauled to jail the minute he steps down. He is a bigger thief than this ngeno who is stupid enough to steal in a America where they track every penny spent. I hope they jail him for life. But you are right kenya will go down financially real fast if ever he becomes president. It’s true kales are bigger thieves than any other Kenyan world wide.

It is saddening to see Kenyans who have undoubtedly faced discrimination and racism in the diaspora viewing this man's crime strictly from an ethnic bias. His actions are based on two universal human flaws: greed and conmanship. Period.

You reason like a street Tout. Your thinking is warped to the core. No wonder you don’t see anything wrong with thieves like dp Ruto and all those conmen residing in UDAku alias Kenya kwanza. Kenya will always be risk with fools like you purporting to explain things you do not understand.

Well, I for one tend to think these people are giving our tribe a bad wrap simply because they see DP Ruto getting by with corruption and graft and then they emulate what the DP is doing because they want easy come easy go kind of money regardless of who they hurt.

It’s the high time our people get to know that crime does not pay. If it will take trivializing crimes to cure the menace, so be it.

Precisely! MP Keter said DP Ruto is stealing in the name of a tribe. He asked Ruto to steal in his name and that of Rachel and leave the whole tribe out of his theft shenanigans. Maybe Ngeno should have consulted with MP Keter for advise about stealing.

@makinyango - the kalenjins have set record of corruption, graft and theft in Kenya. So w hewn a Ngeno steals in America, it leaves some questions if all the kales agreeably think stealing is normal.

So Ngeno must have learned the traits of stealing from his parents who are a certain tribe. He probably have heard numerous stories of DP Ruto stealing large sums of money such as the Kimwerer/Aror dams billions which may ave influenced him to come up with a dirty scam.

We must learn to call a spade ♠️ what it is; a spade!

And this kind of attitude is exactly what has destroyed our country to a point no one can trust the other person anymore. Greed is the worst form of corruption. Greed causes people to kill others to cover the crimes they have committed.

When you commit a crime in USA the FBI will retrieve you from any country. Get the money from you foreign account, auction your property and jail you in the USA. That is the law and they will not let you hid. After completing your jail term send you back to your country with zero.

Nah. The feds can only get you if you are in a country, like Kenya, that has signed an extradition agreement with the USA. If dude had moved to Uganda, Rwanda or Burundi he would be sawa.

He must have been trained in the school of WSR’s theft and corruption. The county need to trace their money in Ruto’s accounts.

Nge’no went stealing from the big brother, just like Ruto steals from the government he is the deputy president. America needs to do a better job when awarding the immigrant visas.

There is something very distasteful with the kalenjin tribe about stealing and killing others. They even kill their own people and the deal is sealed because no one sees criminality in stealing and killing.
