Kenyan Priest Arrested in Jamaica

Kenyan Priest Arrested in Jamaica

A 39-year-old Kenyan cleric was on Tuesday, July 11, arrested by Jamaican law enforcement officers who accused him of four criminal offences.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner's report, the priest, a parishioner at a Roman Catholic Church in Portmore, St Catherine, is accused of defilement. The police said that the accusations against the priest were made after a complainant identified him during an identification parade and this was also confirmed during a question-and-answer session with his lawyer.

The police further revealed that the alleged crimes had been committed on the afternoon of March 19, 2023, but were reported to the authorities on June 23, 2023. The victims who spoke to the police also claimed that the deacons had abducted them. The police refrained from divulging the name of the priest to protect his privacy and urged anyone who may have further details regarding the situation to come forward and help with the investigations. The officers also emphasised their determination to guarantee justice for all victims of sexual misdeeds.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston verified that the priest was quickly removed from all pastoral duties when the report came out. If convicted, the priest will be looking at a minimum of 15 years in prison and deportation from the country after he has finished serving his complete sentence.

Sad a whole denomination created own doctrine to ban marriage. That's an anti Christ spirit. Lots of these Catholic ministers are possessed and yearning for freedom

Calibacy is a choice but nobody can force you to it.It is not an excuse to defile or rape. There are so many adult ladies who are on HEAT/JOTO/MURUKI/MUKIO in Jamaica and the so-called “father” should be stoned and castrated.

@ Aramlamamis, I dont see how celibecy has anything to do with committing a crime of rape. One cannot die for lack of sex anyway.
First of all,I wonder if this is a "true" priest. There are alot of fake men and women of God nowdays.A true man of God would not do what he did, even when tempted.
Secondly,It would be reducing and disrepecting the value of a women, if she has to be only avesel for your "release".
Experts say masterbation is free and safe.Even if it's against your beliefs, and morals, I bet it's a better alternative than langushing in a Jamaican prison.

Off course the man made a serious error in judgement. Still the who denomination is introduced unbiblical rule of no marriage. Let these ppl have a choice instead of being locked

My point is simply that rape has nothing to do with his religion,or to use your words," religion has nothing to do with the man making a serious error". That's all. He could have been a a street sweeper ,or a CEO who is an theist, and raped.Celibacy has no bearing,at least in m view.

Comrade Kora kanini, yes you can" negotiate "law of nature. The law of nature to my understanding is guided you your conscience. When you do wrong thing, like going to a malaya when you are married, your conscience will most likely tell you that you are breaking your marriage vows, and thus not doing the right thing. You may not go to jail or punished for it if not caught, but you feeling of gulity will persist. ..

What's up with these Kenyan men of the cloth lately? Just the other day, Father Kariuki came and went after an all night rendezvous with Shiku. His colleague Kiumbani left Kenya in search of "greener pastures" which as we can see, he found them in Jamaica.

The world has 4,000 well known and documented religions at the moment. Two of them are very intolerant of other religions. Followers of two of them participated in human trafficking a.k.a. slavery.

Quiz: Can you identify the two religions whose followers captured and sold people from our continent as slaves.

@Imara-Suluhisho. Thanks for enlightening us. I did not know they were that many. What this tells me is that spiritual fulfilment is intert drive in us humans, and nobody should discredit the deity,or the god of another community, unless they are ofcourse intolerant, and disrespectful, not to mention arrogant.
The two big religions do not paint black people in good light, and I scratch my head wondering how an african could be a memberr of either one, especially after learning that the 'big 2' regard ablack man as the devil.
Knowing what I know about the two big religions,I have concluded that the fight for supremecy has them at loggerheads.Casual glance at the two would have you believe that they believe in one supreme God,but adepth look will tell you that the God muslims pray to is not the same God christians pray to.
What is interesting is that beliefs in any religion is amatter of faith,even if nothing looks logical.Take Prophet Mohammed for example.Muslims are told that he the perfect moral leader of humanity,but look at what he did and tell me if you agree;
1. He married at least 10 wives when Islam allowes only 4
2 Anywoman was allowed to give herself to the prophet
3.He married a six year old child,consumated at 9
4 He married his son's wife after lusting after her
5 He had sex slaves
6 He traded in slaves
7 He raided caravans
8 He beat/struck his wife, Aisha
The list of "evils" are endless for such a man to be called a moral leader. Contrast that with Jesus, and you might be persuaded to say that Jesus is the 'better man'.Actually you would be hard pressed to read anything "evil" Jesus did.
In conclusion, we should rediscover our african religions that foreigners disparaged, demonized, and disrespected. If you wait for them to acknowledge that 'crime', they wont. They still think our religions/ gods are fake. It's upon us to tell them that our religions were, and are as valid as theirs. And should be respected. What say you?
