Former US President Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump has proposed automatically granting green cards to foreign students who complete their studies at American colleges.
This suggestion, made during an appearance on "The All-In Podcast," represents a significant departure from the restrictive immigration policies he championed during his time in office and contrasts sharply with his often inflammatory anti-immigrant rhetoric on the campaign trail. Trump's proposal would extend to graduates of two-year, four-year, and doctoral programs, effectively bundling a green card with their diplomas upon graduation. The podcast, hosted by prominent tech venture capitalists David Sacks and Chamath Palihapitiya, provided a platform for Trump to articulate this new position.
Notably, Palihapitiya recently organized a fundraiser for Trump in San Francisco, underscoring the former president's growing ties to certain segments of the tech industry. While the proposal appears to be a softening of Trump's immigration stance, his campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt emphasizes that thorough screening measures would be implemented. These checks would aim to exclude individuals with ties to communism, radical Islamism, Hamas, or those harbouring anti-American sentiments. The campaign maintains that only the most highly skilled and thoroughly vetted college graduates should be permitted to remain in the country.
Trump's broader stance on immigration remains a cornerstone of his 2024 presidential campaign. He has pledged to conduct the largest domestic deportation operation in US history, a promise that stands in stark contrast to recent actions by the Biden administration. President Biden's executive action, aimed at allowing certain undocumented spouses and children of US citizens to apply for permanent residency without leaving the country, appears designed to appeal to key Latino voters in battleground states. Trump's new proposal seems to acknowledge the importance of retaining skilled graduates in the United States. He argues that forcing top international students from prestigious institutions to return to their home countries after graduation ultimately benefits rival companies overseas, putting American businesses at a competitive disadvantage.
This stance represents a notable shift from his previous administration's efforts to restrict visa programs used by tech firms to bring in skilled foreign workers and the promotion of a "Buy American, Hire American" policy. The former president's evolving position on skilled immigration highlights the complex interplay between economic competitiveness and immigration policy. While maintaining a hard line on undocumented immigration and continuing to use inflammatory rhetoric about immigrants in his campaign speeches, Trump appears to be carving out a more nuanced position on highly educated foreign nationals.
This policy shift occurs against the backdrop of ongoing debates about immigration reform and the role of foreign talent in driving American innovation and economic growth.

He is lying
This dude is a conman. Will say anything to be elected again. Evil stupid man.
Actually I dont see any policy shift here.Note that what is being suggested here is about legal,or documented immigration. The bone of contention has always been illegal immigration, and here, I dont see any solution offered. At least Biden has an offer on that. Nonetheless its all politics. Immigration(illegal) has always been a 'hot potato' no regime wants to tackle...
Democrats want aliens for the vote while Republicans want cheaper labor. I'm for Trump despite his ego which seems bigger than everything and obvious mistakes. He's an outsider unlike the DC secret society who've been in politics since 60s with nothing to show for it
An outsider? What planet are you coming from? This dude has toyed with politics for more than half a century. Who cares if he is an outsider, his policies are based on Make America great again! The question is what "great" means and when was that! If going back to greatness is in the 50s,60s or 70s , then as black person, you don't know the American history and I am so afraid for you!
Nobody should fall in this Moron's trap. Since when have any republican had a shred of support to immigrants? Not as far as I could remember. If this idiot accidentally become re-elected, the world will be a chaotic globe to live in. He knows the only way out of his criminal activities is grab the presidency. Its sad to how discriminative the US laws are, especially when it comes to the rich and mighty. I would be rotting in federal penitentiary immediately the jury found me guilty of even one count. Watching carefully the the supreme court will play out.
I love trump and I will vote trump on battle ground PA:)
🙄🙄
Obviously only Hitler and the white supremacists, that’s what is in his delusional mind!!!!
The U.S Supreme Court should disqualify Mr. Donald Trump from running for the presidency this year. Why?
1. When he (Donald) took the oath of office as the next president of the USA on Friday, January 20, 2017, he took the oath of office under the Supreme Court Chief Justice, The Honorable John G, Roberts, Jr and said the following:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, PRESERVE, PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION of the United States.”
2. Mr. Donald Trump did not "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the U.S.A. on Wednesday, January 06, 2021 when he authorized his diehard followers suffering from the "Stockholm syndrome," who forcefully disrupted an official function of the transfer of power on that day. I really do not understand why it is taking so long for the nine justices to disqualify him and let the Republicans chose another candidate for the November presidential election!
3. What the US Supreme Court Justices need is to adhere strictly to the principles of "Critical Thinking Skills."
Critical Thinking is the ability to analyze all facts objectively and form a rational non-biased judgement.
4. The whole world is watching and waiting patiently to see whether the USA Supreme Court is going to follow the principles of Critical Thinking Skills and immediately disqualify Mr. Trump and ban him permanently from running for any public elective office in the USA for the remaining of his life.
5. The late Bishop of the Anglican Church in South COHO (Continent Of Human Origins) Mpilo Tutu once said:
"If you are silent in situations of injustice, you have taken the side of the oppressor."
6. Let us take a moment and remember the brave Police Officers who protected lives on that day (January 06, 2021) and a few lost their lives when Mr. Trump refused to honor the oath of office that he took on Friday, January 20, 2017.
