Ruto: I Ran Government Alone as Gachagua Failed His Role

President William Ruto has publicly addressed his deteriorating relationship with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, revealing two years of dysfunction within Kenya's highest office.
During the swearing-in ceremony of new Deputy President Kithure Kindiki at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on Friday, Ruto expressed his frustration over having to shoulder executive responsibilities alone, particularly in communicating government initiatives. The President detailed how he had been the sole voice promoting crucial government programs, including affordable housing, universal health care, university funding reforms, and agricultural subsidies.
Chief Justice Martha Koome and Chief Registrar Winfridah Mokaya presided over the ceremony where Ruto emphasized the pressing need for executive support, specifically requesting Kindiki's intellectual contribution and voice in articulating government policies. Kindiki has pledged unwavering support to the administration's vision, emphasizing his commitment to fostering a more inclusive, democratic, and transformed Kenya. Kindiki's promise to lighten the President's burden stands in stark contrast to the claimed previous dynamic within the executive.
The relationship between Ruto and Gachagua had grown increasingly tense, as evidenced by recent public statements from both parties. Following his hospitalization during impeachment proceedings at the Senate, Gachagua made serious allegations against the President, comparing his treatment to that of Kenneth Matiba under President Daniel Moi's regime. Speaking from Karen Hospital, surrounded by family and parliamentary supporters, Gachagua described his tenure as exceptionally challenging. President Ruto further criticized his former deputy for prioritizing regional interests over national concerns, particularly regarding Mt Kenya's representation.
This "shareholding" perspective became one of the eleven grounds cited in the impeachment motion that ultimately led to Gachagua's removal from office. In contrast, Ruto praised Kindiki's nationalist approach and emphasized the importance of equitable public service delivery across all regions. The President expresses confidence in Kindiki's capabilities and lauds his professional dedication and commitment to excellence. As Kenya's third Deputy President under the 2010 Constitution, Kindiki's appointment represents a fresh start for the executive branch.
Ruto emphasizes the importance of having an experienced leader in the deputy presidency to engage with various economic sectors and drive national transformation.

The positive thing is that you learned your lesson and hopefully future presidents will learn from it!!! You failed to do a thorough vetting of your running mate!!! It’s imperative that you do your job thoroughly before deciding on your running mate!!! Thus, you are partly to blame, and humans make mistakes!!! However, colossal mistakes should never be norm or tolerated cause they can lead to colossal consequences!!!!
