Kenya's Faith Kipyegon Qualifies for Women’s 1500m Final After Winning Her Semifinal Race at Rio

Faith Kipyegon on Sunday night qualified for the women’s 1500m final at Rio after finishing first in her semifinal race. The second semifinal race was won by Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba, who also holds the world record in the event.

Viola Lagat, the other Kenyan in the semifinals, failed to qualify for the final after finishing sixth in her race.  

The final of the women’s 1500m will take place on Tuesday night.
