‘Cut Us Some Slack’: Video of Nairobi Woman Bashing Kenyans in the US Emerges

A video of a Nairobi-based woman bashing Kenyans in the United States has emerged on social media.

In the undated video posted on Facebook, the lady who only identifies herself as Nana tells Kenyans living in the US go give their compatriots back home ‘a break.’

“Acheni kutusumbua tafadhali, we are busy people,” Nana exclaims.

Nana says Kenyans in the US accuse those back home of being a burden to them, but that they [Kenyans in the US] are also burdens to their relatives and friends.

“Wengine mmepata Geeen Card recently halafu mmenza kubrag. Mnatwambia tuwatafutie manyumba na magari halafu hamtaki kulipa…” she adds.

She also says they should not lecture Kenyans back home about how filthy the country is,or the state of hospitals and roads.

“Na muache kihelehele mingi ati Kenya kuna uchafu…mara hospitali ni mbaya, mara barabara ni mbaya, mara vumbi, mara takataka... Mkienda America mliacha Kenya iko hivyo,” she says.

She also accuses Kenyans abroad of developing some kind of pride after winning the green card and failing to settle bills once they visit Kenya.

“And then even those of you who went to America straight from Ushago and had never visited Nairobi before you got your Green Card and only passed through the City enroute to Jomo Kenyatta Airport ati sasa mnajifanya mnataka kukaa Kilimani area kwa sababu mmesikia watu wengine walikaa huko.”

When many Kenyans return from the US, she says, and all they do is drink alcohol, brag with hired cars and leave without paying bills.

“Na muache kimbelembele ya kuwapa pesa mapoliticians wanaowatembelea huko na ili hali wako na pesa mingi kuwaliko. Halafu  mnapost mapicha kwa Facebook.”

“Please please give us a break and use Google to get rental cars and apartments. But we still love you ma-Summer bunnies,’ she concludes.

What the lady is saying is true, but does not of course apply to all diaspora, except the showoff, arrogant, and the have low self esteem ones.
Some criticisms are well placed, but others are intended just to insult. And some of those who insult should realized that there are lucky to have had the opportunity to come, especially in the USA to get an education, and work ,bearing in mind that there are many Kenyans back home who would do ten times better given the same opportunity.
And there are those who criticize Kenya with love, and hope for a better country that we could be if we exercise our full potential.I fall in this group. For example, I take issue with the following quote:

“Na muache kihelehele mingi ati Kenya kuna uchafu…mara hospitali ni mbaya, mara barabara ni mbaya, mara vumbi, mara takataka... Mkienda America mliacha Kenya iko hivyo,” she says.
Yes I have seen patients share hospitals beds in kenya.Yes I have seen takataka in many towns, and cities.I have seen how people live in Migingo island,or Kibera slums. The question is do we really have to live like that? Even if one lives in a slum it behoof the dweller to make it clean. Yes we left Kenya ikiwa hivyo. But does it have to remain that way.Do you really like it that way? I doubt. Now who can argue with that?.
Days of blaming mzungu are over.We are corrupt because we allow corruption. We have "shitty roads, and hospitals" because we allow it. We have "shitty politicians" because we allow it. Now the question is can we do better? Yes we can, if we have the will and the drive to do it.My two cents.

She needs some dick or amemiss sponsor to con! She seems to have a beef with diasporians! This is my take; so long as no one has come you(Ms. Biglips Bleachface) to ask for money coz mtoto amefukuzwa shule due to lack of fees, shida hiko wapi?
Anyone has right to live and do what rocks his/her boat. Some people are alcoholics and some are Pastor. Nganga's followers and some are atheists. Its a choice in life, just live your life same way some of us don't give a damn of your horrible accents.

  15. TobiasOct 10, 2019

Miss perfect. Kisii women just beat me when Kikuyu girls are going for the juggler wrestling and nabbing rich foreigners like Tob Cohn and Michael William. Lou women are excelling in acting and other genre, Kisii girls have such nonsense for role models. We need prayers.

  16. MundumugoOct 7, 2019

Nairobi was not always dirty, traffic lights used to work, KBS was an actual working and functioning entity, there used to be sailboats and fishing on Nairobi dam on the weekends. I could go on, but regardless of the people putting on airs in December, we can only solve problems by recognizing their existence. Denial is unfortunately not just a river in Egypt.

  17. Kenya.Oct 7, 2019

Nana, you nailed it. Churchill Show will be happy to hire you.

  18. MjuaJI.Oct 7, 2019

Mkiambiwa ukweli mnachemka kama uji. Ukweli usemwe.
Sikiza haya.
    Maisha ya Marekani ni ya:
    Utumwa.
    Upweke.
    Upuuzi.
    Ukabwere.
    Ulevi.
    Ukandamizaji.
    Umaskini.
    Utajiri wa utani.
    Maisha mazuri ya uwongo.
    Maisha inayoweza kuporomoka wakati wowote.
Maisha ambayo unaweza kupanda ngazi keshowe ukashuka shweeeeeeee.
Maisha ambayo yanaweza kubadilika ukosapo cheki mbili tu.

  19. MugikuyuOct 7, 2019

@Mjuaji I agree. Ukweli wote usemwe hapa! Don't like it don't dish it out.

  20. Mkenya1Oct 7, 2019

That's absolutely true especially talking for three hours. But you have the right to say you are busy you can't do it. You are not forced to talk for all those hours do don't complain

  21. ken motleyOct 7, 2019

I was really wondering about this at first but someone really pissed her off. dudes need to slow down haha.

  22. Settled NomadOct 7, 2019

The 'rant' is true, and false, in equal measure. My take? Big lips, false accent, has never been abroad. She has never experienced 'culture shock'. She is talking as a Kenyan, and as the saying goes, someone who has not eaten outside the family home always believes that the Mother is the best Cook!

  23. formerlyguest2Oct 7, 2019

You can dish it but you can't take it?It's like a pot calling the kettle black. How many times I have watched videos of Kenyans insulting us over our menial jobs etc Mhalisi notwithstanding. "Ye who has not sinned cast the first stone" . Just want to be the the new social media sensation . Yes Kenya is filthy! System do not work because you KENYANS IN KENYA, keep voting recycled goons and sit there and watch them abuse y'all ( my two cents shago american tweng). Well if you can't ignore a phone call because you are too busy , that is on you. If you waste your time dealing with people because perhaps you also wanted to make a killing from a diaspora and it didn't pan out , whose fault is it anyway? Nothing here is forced aka two way street allowance of bad behavior Please, you Nana you are as guilty ! I would suggest spending the time volunteering and finding solutions to the myriad of problems in that Jamhuri instead of wasting your 5 minute fame payukaring on social media and and generalizing behavior of two or diasporan. nkt! You contribute to the same problem you are pretending not to like .

Imagine this woman is a “Supvisor” at S.K Macharia’s radio station, horrible person with shallow thinking.
Macharia used be a cleaner @ Seattle years back and now he is your employer. Don’t underrate anybod/any job. By the way your halloweenian embalmed face is scary.

  26. meOct 8, 2019

Nana, you must be hanging with the wrong people, You need to change your friends and relatives if that is what they do to you.

  27. KangolOct 8, 2019

Aiiiii! Nana yawa! who would let you live in their property and leave without paying especially in Kenya? And this Summer Bunny statement, alot of people never heard of it until recently, you fall in the same category you are expressing. This might even be a Kenyan in America bashing fellow Kenyans. The matanga part, contributing is willfully done to help the bereaved, not forced.

  28. Wololo mayieOct 8, 2019

Go kick some rocks lady...your circle of diaspora friends sucks!!!!!

  34. TobiasOct 10, 2019

Get more ambitious girl. This is a low one. Your contemporaries are seeking Oscars, becoming women reps, or getting a Nobel prize. You are hurting our ears with whining about Kenyan living in another country. You know what they call people who do what you did in America, "loser"

  35. RaiaOct 10, 2019

Stop attacking the woman most of you cannot handle the truth.By the way she is not faking her accent that is the way Kisii people speak nor is her face bleached. She just happens to be light skinned guess some of you diasporians cannot handle that she looks better than you do.Only cowards attack the messenger when they do not like the message.

  36. MundumugoOct 12, 2019

No one but you mentioned her accent & why do you equate light skin with good looks? By the way the majority of requests for cash and attempts to scam tend to come from Kenya. When was the last time a diasporan asked you to invest in some fly by night get rich quick scheme majuu? Envy and anger are bad looks. I say wherever you are, make the best of that life since in the end we all end up the same way.

    Ma summer bunnies ni nini??

  42. PatriciahNov 1, 2019

Why dont you confront the culprits involved than address everyone in such an angry tone. We are investing home or better still banking our money to develop our Nation. Its through our hard earned money that some people have owned property and drive big cars. Seriously where would large bank loans come from if we didnt wire funds? When l came for vacation l used matatus, buses and boda for transport yet my friends drive latest vehicles. It was a good experience for my family too. So we are individuals and all view summer vacation diferently.
