Kenyan Woman Murdered by Her Canadian Employer’s Son in Egypt

A Kenyan family is seeking answers following the alleged murder of their daughter in Cairo, Egypt on September 23rd.

Grace Wangoi, 32, from Moi’s Bridge in Trans-Nzoia County, has been a domestic worker in the North African country for the past seven years, her family told The Standard.

Until her death, she was taking care of an elderly Canadian man.

Her elder brother Johana Kambo said the family received a phone call on Monday from a neighbor, who informed them that Wangoi died following an altercation with her employer’s son.

Kambo, who works at the University of Embu as a dean, said his sister had complained that her employer’s son, who arrived from Canada, was sexually harassing her.

“My sister complained to her employer (the Canadian) and her agent about the sexual harassment but both asked to persevere. Wangoi said the younger Canadian made frequent sexual advances, but she declined and the employer told her that his son would be returning to Canada,” said Kambo.

He added: “We have been informed that the situation worsened on September 18 after the employer’s son turned violent and attacked my sister.”

He said the family is yet to receive official communication from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi about their kin’s death.

Wangoi’s sister Tabby Wanja said the deceased had worked for the elderly Canadian man for about a week, having arrived there on September 14th.

"I have a sister who is in Egypt, Cairo, she was working in a new house, there was only an old man in the house to care for then the son of the old man came from Canada. He started assaulting my sister when my sister declined, he hit her on the head with a blunt object my sister fell and died," she told Tuko News.

Wanja said when the man realized he had killed Wangoi, he threw himself from the 13th floor of their apartment and died on the spot.

The family is appealing to well-wishers to help them raise Sh300,000 for preservation and an additional Sh500,000 for repatriating the body.

A country that ships its most precious asset to be used in foreign lands as domestic workers is a useless country and government. Domestic worker for the African woman is the modern day slavery. They are lynched with impunity and we have a duty to stand up for them. RIP sister - we failed you.

This is so unfortunate. My thoughts and prayers go to the family of the murdered. Again folks,at the risk of embarrassing the followers of Islam,I say that if the canadians are of muslims persuasion , this attack was motivated by what Islam teaches. And that is muslim men can have sex slave for pleasure.Mohammad their prophet himself had afew african slaves. That practice has never been abrogated.
Of course, muslims are embarrassed by this revelation.Who wouldn't be.The only way to save face is to confront these uncomfortable issues head on ,and have some reform, that align with modern way of life. One cannot live in this civilized world with archaic ways that is fit for the stone age.

When they fight back the advances, they are killed by the men...when they embrace the advances, they are killed by the women/wives.... What can we do to help our girls earn and stay at home?
RIP Grace.

The 300b saved by gov should be used to create employment. It hurts to see our sisters enslaved and sacrificed in foreign lands.

RIP SISTER,RIP.
Another murder in the Muslim world.
This shows how little Regard they have for a human life. The devil has as they want us to believe was involved. The devil lives in all of us. A man will do anything to release him using the small head. A woman will do anything to release him using her second mouth.
Most of these murders always happen because of sex. So it's time we revisit this demon called SEX.

Hahahah...sex is a demon indeed. If it's true that sex and aggression is linked to the level of testosterone ,then the good news ,if you call it good is that testosterone levels in men have been going down.According to studies ,in the last 20years,at least the level has dropped 20% in males, with more younger men suffering the effect. See where Iam going? This means that eventually men will not be sexually aggressive.Hopefully that will stem, curb, and contain the SEX DEMON.

Kenyan put their hope on hope since it is not possible to get a job . My niece graduated in 2018 still jobless she started selling chai and ndazi in the street but she was not making any money . breakeven meant could not eat . she lived on left over ndazi. now she has rheumatoid athritis and no job . how is she going to continue in live she is 28 years old a ict graduate. That is why most kenyans are leaving it is not to go and make a lot of money taking care of an old person means you might even take him/her to the toilet , use diapers , wash him etc it is out of survival but as long as our embassies do not interfere with the relevant government of the countries involved employers can do anything they like

Her crime was to be beautiful. She's very attractive. She died protecting her honour. Rest in peace, beautiful sister.
