The US Embassy in Nairobi has implemented new procedures regarding the DS-160 application form for non-immigrant visa applicants.
These changes aim to streamline the application process and ensure accuracy.
What is a Non-Immigrant Visa?
A non-immigrant visa is for foreign nationals seeking temporary entry into the United States for purposes like tourism, medical treatment, business, temporary work, or studies. Effective immediately, all non-immigrant visa applicants must bring the same DS-160 application form used to schedule their interview to the actual visa interview. The DS-160 is an online form that captures your biographical and travel information. Applicants have until May 18, 2024, to comply with this new requirement. Failure to present the correct DS-160 application form will result in the cancellation of the scheduled visa interview.
To ensure you have the correct form, follow these steps:
1. Locate your DS-160 confirmation page.
2. Visit [https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke](https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke) and log in to your account.
3. Verify that the DS-160 number displayed on your account matches the number on your confirmation page.
If the DS-160 numbers align, proceed with your scheduled interview as planned. In case of a mismatch, you will need to complete a new DS-160 application form by following these steps:
1. Visit [https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx](https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx).
2. Complete the new DS-160 application form following the instructions provided.
3. Print out the confirmation page for the newly completed DS-160 application.
Updating Your Online Account
Once you have the new DS-160 confirmation page, update your online account at [https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke](https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke):
1. Log in to your account.
2. Click on the gear icon located at the far right corner.
3. Select "Edit" and update the old DS-160 number with the new and correct one.
If you encounter any difficulties updating your DS-160 number in your online account, you can seek help by clicking on "Contact Us" at the bottom of the webpage and following the provided instructions. Remember to confirm or update your DS-160 application form by May 18, 2024, as failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your scheduled interview and you will need to reschedule. By following these new procedures, you can ensure a smooth and efficient visa application process at the US Embassy in Nairobi.
