A watchman in Kericho is making headlines after he won the Jubilee Party Member of County Assembly (MCA) ticket for Kipchebor ward in Kericho town in the primaries held on Tuesday. Eric Bett entered in the race dominated by some candidates with big pockets but he managed to floor them despite his disadvantaged campaign resources.
Erick Bett trounced incumbent MCA Joel Siele, a close ally of Energy Cabinet Secretray Charles Keter.
His election has been viewed as a protest vote against Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter who is said to have imposed some leaders to Kericho residents.
The watchman, in company of his supporters, thronged Kericho Town streets on Wednesday on top a ‘mkokoteni’ to celebrate his Victory.
Bett campaigned on foot compared to his his challengers who campaigned on expensive vehicles and campaign materials.
Elsewhere, a cook at Sosiot Secondary school in Kericho, Daniel Ng’etich, won the Jubilee MCA ticket for Waldai Ward in Belgut constituency.
