Blame Game after Botched Meeting Between DP William Ruto and Former President Moi

Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kassait Kamket claims that Deputy President William Ruto sneaked into retired President Daniel arap Moi's rural residence in Kabarak without an appointment.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Friday, the KANU MP dismissed claims that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi was behind the botched meeting between Ruto and Moi.

Kamket said that Ruto’s incognito visit to the former president's home was a plot to embarrass his son Gideon and accused the DP of being insincere about the visit.

“There is malice in this matter. The intention was not to see retired President, intention was to go there and pass this false narrative that Senator Gideon Moi is trying to block him. I do not believe that the Deputy President is so gullible to believe that someone like (William) Chepkut or (Charles) Keter would book an appoint for him,” says Kamket.

Kamket said that Ruto “sneaked into Kabarak incognito” and he believes this was a breach of protocol.

“A person of the stature of DP going to see retired president is a very serious matter. The two gentlemen are not ordinary Kenyans, I thought it was cheeky for Ruto to sneak in and try to make political capital,” he said.

“The narrative that he wants to sell is that his competitor for 2022 is the one blocking him from seeing his father, which is not true, Gideon Moi is not a gate man at Kabarak,” he said.

“This thing started two weeks ago in Kapkatet when Senator Murkomen mentioned that DP was being blocked from meeting former president.”

However, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei defended  the Deputy President, noting that Ruto had an appointment to meet Moi.

“When Ruto’s plane landed in Kabarak, Mzee Moi was basking in the sun and he almost fell as he was being wheeled back into the house,” claims Cherargei.

“They also unhooked Moi’s phones so he couldn’t be reached.”

“The meeting was not political, he had gone to see a sick person. But for the doubting Thomas’s, we have only ndume (bull) moja in the Rift Valley,” he said.

Ruto flew to Kabarak on a private chopper accompanied by Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter,  Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut and lawyer Stephen Kipkenda.

In a statement on Thursday, the office of the former President said Ruto could not meet Moi as he found him busy with his doctors.

"Former President Mzee Daniel arap Moi was visited today by Deputy President His Excellency William Ruto at his Kabarak home. Ruto who was accompanied by Energy CS Charles Keter, Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut and lawyer Stephen Kipkenda were welcomed and had lunch at Mzee's Kabarak home," the Statement read.

" Unfortunately, this coincided with the time Mzee Moi was undergoing routine physical exercise with his doctors. Mzee Moi agreed to meet the visitors at convenient time another day in the very near future," it added.

Truth be told. The Kenyattas, the Mois and the Odinga's are in cahoots to hijack our democracy and install themselves as our eternal leaders whether we like it or not. They will destroy our fragile democracy with the proposed surgical manipulation of our constitution, calling it an amendment, knowing only too well they are hoodwinking wananchi to believe they have our best interest at heart. Kenyans are not children. You keep lying to us at every turn. How do you expect us to believe that RUTO dashed to Mois Kabaraka incognito? DP doesn't have the time to gate crash other people 's home. Gideon Moi is holding the gate collecting entrance fees for seeing Moi.
