Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has stood by his decision to pick self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna as county's Deputy Governor.
Speaking when he attended a service at A.I.P.C.A Church in Njiru Ward, Nairobi County on Sunday, Sonko said Miguna remains his number one choice for the post.
"I have chosen Miguna as my deputy and it is the assembly which will decide," Governor Sonko said.
The position feel vacant after the resignation of Polycarp Igathe in January. Sonko further assured Nairobi residents that he is committed to transforming the city as promised during campaigns.
"I will not give room to those who want to derail my vision. My focus is service delivery to Nairobians," he said.
Sonko returned to Nairobi on Sunday after temporarily operating from his rural home in Mua Hills, Machakos for the past one week for fear of his life. Sonko fled to Machakos after the government reduced his bodyguards.
Speaking at the Church, the Governor said his life is still in danger, but asked Nairobi residents to protect him.
“When Raila Amolo Odinga’s security personnel was withdrawn, did his life continue or not? Those other NASA leaders who had their security withdrawn, did their lives continue or not?” posed Governor Sonko.
“Even in Nairobi County, life with citizens will continue. I believe the citizens are enough security. I do not need that police security anymore.”

Does Mbuvi know there was Nairobi before he was elected governor? You were elected just to remove gangster Kindero although you might be equally be corrupt like both Kindero and the Germany gangster,Kenneth. He should be told that not all Nairobians worship his illicit, blood money and only a few would mourn his slaughter by other druglords.Si ata yeye alishahau expired comrade, jambazi Juma?
Sonko want to rule NBO without a Deputy. To avoid a court action to force him to get one, he buys time by appointing one who'll not get the votes. After that, he'll still another one who can't get the votes, and by that time, 5 years will be over. You get the leadership that you voted for.
Yap, yap, yap, payuka, payuka na kuhangaika kama kuku anataka kutega!...verbal diarrhea every waking day. In the meantime, Nairobi is heaving under the weight of rubbish, lawlessness to mention but a few evils lurking beneath the city once renowned for it's beauty! Shame.
Sonko runs Nairobi like he owns it
Sonko remember you were elected on Jubilee ticket. Be smart. Bringing Miguna will be the start of your downfall. Many people do not like Miguna especially NASA/ODM. You will not have supporters in both Jubilee or NASA apart for those waiting for your handouts.
