Raila Calls Off His Scheduled Visit to the US

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has called off his scheduled visit to the United States.
This comes after a weather advisory from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina following the extreme weather conditions expected in North Carolina.
The US institution was set to host the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader from September 16th to 19th. Odinga was set to leave the country on Friday.
"Duke University advised that an extremely powerful hurricane, Florence, is expected to land on the North Carolina coast early Friday. The university is therefore on concerted effort to weather the storm," Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango said in a statement on Wednesday.
The university said the forecast shows Durham will experience extremely dangerous weather conditions between Thursday and Sunday.
Raila is currently in Ghana for the burial of former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, who passed on in Switzerland last month after a short illness.
