Government to Facilitate Repatriation of More Kenyans Stranded in India

The government has revealed plans to evacuate more Kenyans stranded in India amid the Covid-19 lockdown.
The Kenyan High Commission in New Delhi asked Kenyans wishing to return home before September 1st to submit their details including names, passport numbers, and telephone contacts to the mission before August 12th.
“Submit a list containing your names, passport numbers, and telephone contacts to Kenya High Commission in New Delhi through email: visa@kenyahicom-delhi.com by end of business on August 12, 2020,” Kenya’s High Commissioner to India Willy Bett said in a statement on Monday.
This comes after the Indian government extended a ban on international flights to and from the country till August 31st.
An official from the Foreign Affairs Ministry said they are yet to establish the actual number of Kenyans stuck in India at the moment.
“It is yet to be established how many Kenyans are here but we have requested them to send details. Once we have the data we shall be in a position to tell,” the official told The Star.
Since April, the government has facilitated the return of at least 1,000 Kenyans stranded in India following the suspension of international travel.
They were repatriated in six flights including three KQ aircraft and three Air India planes.
Most of those repatriated had traveled to India to seek medical treatment together with their carers while others were students, tourists, and business travelers.

It was a human being who taught a leopard how to eat people. "Our forefathers say that the leopard wanted to eat people but did not know how to kill them until it overheard someone telling another that if the leopard was clever, it would jump on someone and prick its claws into the person's neck. This saying means that someone, through carelessness, may teach the enemy how to hurt " - EM. Human beings are the cause of much evil - KA.
