Sad: Kenyan Man Who 'Resurrected' in Mortuary During Embalming Dies

A 32-year-old Kenyan man who was pronounced dead but regained consciousness in a morgue during embalming has died.

Peter Kiplangat Kigen was rushed to Kapkatet Hospital in Kericho on November 24th after he collapsed at home.

A health worker who checked on him upon arrival declared him dead and he was transferred to the facility’s mortuary.

Morgue attendants immediately began the embalming process but the patient wailed in pain and woke up after an incision was made on his right to infuse formalin.

This forced those who were around to scamper for safety thinking that the man had ‘resurrected’.

After recovering from the scare, morgue attendants wheeled him to the hospital’s casualty section where first aid was administered on him before he was taken to the ward to recuperate.

Kigen passed away on Thursday afternoon upon arrival at Kericho County Referral Hospital where he was transferred for further treatment, his family confirmed. Reports indicate he was suffering from a chronic disease.

“Kigen was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kericho County Hospital where he was being transferred to from Kapkatet for further treatment and management,” Hezbon Tonui, the family spokesman told Standard Digital.

This is sad all around. Someone’s carelessness killed this man.
I doubt the incision was the cause of his death. It’s either the original cause of collapse at home home. I’m guessing they never did a diagnosis. The other cause of death is likely the formalin. They had to have admitted some amount of it in his body. An incision can’t kill someone. Doctors could’ve stitched him up.
What I find strange is how the story states that after immediately being pronounced dead, he was take to morgue and embalming process began. That doesn’t add up.
