Stephen Ngila was handed the sentence by Senior Resident Magistrate Brenda Bartoo of Machakos law courts on Tuesday after he was found guilty of the offense.

He was charged with attempted murder after he brutally attacked his former wife, Jackline Mwende, on July 25th, 2016 at their home in Machakos with a machete.

In addition to losing both hands, Mwende suffered serious injuries on her head and back during the gruesome attack.

Mwende said Ngila attacked her for failing to bear him children despite several tests showing that he was the one who had reproductive health issues. He allegedly refused to undergo treatment recommended by doctors to correct the problem.

At the time of the attack, the two had been married for seven years and had no children.

Ngila has 14 days to appeal the ruling.

In addition she gave birth after being impregnated outside their marriage and he got really pissed even though he had pressured her repeatedly to bear him a child.

What a monster! He should have been sentenced to death after serving 30 years.

She is a victim of close mindedness, ignorance reinforced by male chauvinistic attitudes. So unfortunate.I feel that he should have gotten life sentence.Or made to suffer the same chopping he inflicted on someone's daughter.

That’s one crazy sob. They should chop his hands as punishment. Jail time is nothing.
