MPs Simba Arati and Sylvanus Osoro Reconcile After Fistfight

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and his Mugirango South counterpart Sylvanus Osoro have reconciled weeks after engaging in a fistfight.

The two exchanged blows and kicks early this month during the burial of Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi’s father, which was attended by among others, ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

Their conflict was expected to play out again when they shared the same podium during the funeral of the late Bonchari MP John Oroo Oyioka in Kisii on Friday.

But when Arati was invited to give his speech during the ceremony, he asked Osoro to join him, sparking cheers from mourners.

The two then shook hands, hugged, and forgave each other, and promised to work together going forward.

“Political disagreement is allowed but that doesn’t mean we engage in war. This is a sign of unity to our people and new dawn; let us embrace peace and work together for the sake of our people,” said Arati.

Speakers at the ceremony, including presiding Priest Fr. Lawrence Nyanga hailed the two for their bold move after their disagreement.
